A short time ago I joined eBay. Before I dive-in to it, are there any helpful hints/horror stories?.
Also, does anyone have an opinion of using "PayPal" to make the transactions?. After checking out the site www.paypalsucks.com I am somewhat leery allowing PP to have access to my bank account.

Re: eBay
I got a bad review from someone, because his e-mail account was worthless and he received none of my e-mails (explaining why he was receiving his goods in separate packages). Ensure you have constant contact with those who purchase your products.GREAHSIAM wrote:A short time ago I joined eBay. Before I dive-in to it, are there any helpful hints/horror stories?.

That paypal sucks site doesn't really seem to say anything that bad from my quick perusing. And why are they harping on that one line in the TOS that says if your account is compromised it gets frozen?

I have had no problems from Ebay or Paypal. I've heard horror stories and had emails from others sent to me. But I've never run into it. If you make people use paypal if they bid on your auctions, or if you bid on something make sure they use paypal. It's the simplest fastest way to make a transaction while maintaining security.

Re: eBay
As long as you practice basic, basic computer security, then PayPal is very safe, and generallly ensures a quick pain-free transaction. If PayPal still isn't your cup of tea, then several other organizations offer online payment (Western Union's BidPay comes to mind.) However, their terms and conditions will tend to differ from those of PayPal, and not everybody will use, or accept payment using the other services (and you still have to keep safety in mind when you use those services.)GREAHSIAM wrote:A short time ago I joined eBay. Failing that, you could always blow more money writing a cashier's check or a money order, and subject your payment to the tender mercies of the mail.
