And working at the Minstry of Finance, let me say, if he'd talked to us before the election, he could have found out about the huge deficient the PC's had generated.
Sure...so honest in fact that he hasn't been able to keep a single promise he made during the election campaign. And I just love how he scapegoats everything on this deficit that he "conveniently" found out about soon after he was elected. Ok, you have a deficit, now act decisively and freakin' do something about it instead of sticking your thumb up your ass and blaming everything on it. MacGuinty has got to be the most whishy-washy idiot I've ever seen in power, he keeps talking and stalling and while day by day the situation gets worse.

Now I may not agree with all the choices the previous PC government made but at least the were decisive about it and stuck to their guns. They did not stall and make up stupid excuses for why they couldn't get things done, they just got down to business and got the job done. The MacGuinty Liberals could take a fucking lesson from them.

I'ld recomending defect to Australia, but we have extradition treats with the USA. :D

But I'ld wait to see how the USA-AUS free trade agreement pans out. We might be importing some really nasty copyright & patent laws :(
I`d suspect that Australia could be screwed the same way Canada was with the damn NAFTA
Obviously, you haven't done your research. If not for the NAFTA, we'd be much worse off now than we would otherwise.

You must be referring to Mike Harris, because Eves was anything but decisive. After becoming premier, he reversed many of Harris's decisions, and often reversed his own. I too didn't agree with Harris all the time, but if I had been old enough, I would have voted for Harris in both the elections he ran in...

Mike Harris is my friend, he made the economy good so that I could find a job. If it wasn't for Mike Harris I'd still be an unemployed bum, thank you Mike, for creatin' me a job. OK, so I'm not exactly being serious but all in all I think he did a pretty good job. Anyone who pisses off my NDP loving mom as much as he did is doing something right. :D

Man that is funny! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA.

We've got an ethics commissioner that reports directly to the Prime Minister instead of reporting to Parliament. And the RCMP are government pawns.

Bullshit. "Fairly honest man"? One does not make promises without bothering to figure out whether he can keep them unless he was never serious about keeping them in the first place. When someone asks if he can borrow $5k from you, would you give an unqualified "yes" without making sure you could actually afford to loan him this money?
Mike, I work in the Ontario Ministry of Finance. With the reports the PC government was asking for (or rather, the types of reports they were asking for), had data that indicated that Mcguinties promises were realisitc.

However, once the audit was done, and ALL the data came out, it was clear they are not.

Mcquinty has the problem of trusting data he didn't have all of (and should have known better). Hopefully, he knows better now

So what? Let's assume he didn't know about the deficit until after the election. Fine. What the fuck has he done since then other than whine about the deficit and sit around with his thumb stuck up his ass. He hasn't taken any action to do anything about the deficit, he hasn't prioritized any programs, he's done absolutely fucking nothing except whining & blaming. What the fuck is the idiot good for?

Even if McGuinty is well-meaning (which is possible, though I am skeptical), there's no getting around the fact that he is still horrendously incompetent, and I'm convinced that by the time his term ends, he will have totally fucked this province.

Oh, I agree, the man is a fuck up, but he's a honest fuck up.

However, he has been doing stuff besides whining about the deficiet.

For example, at work, he asked Provincal employee's for suggestions to cut down on costs, and other revenue generating ideas.

I suggested that he give us all the summer off, like teachers, and close all government buildings completely down and without power for that period.

Considering the price of electricity, that should save billions

However, there are things that could be done which would pull in the revenue needed to fix the deficiet problems the PC's let sit around 'not caring' about them.

i.e Go after Corperations that haven't filled there taxes in 6+ years
(yes, I'm quite serious)

Or expanding the unit I work with. We found tax violators on imports last year, just targeting 1 business sector/import type (IT companies importing computer hardware/software) and just the 100 of those that have been fully processed generated 1.4 million.

Oh yes, one of those "wonderful" revenue generating ideas he came up with is to sell off the LCBO, which is about the only thing that's making money for the government, what a beautiful idea.

Here's another be-a-utiful McGuinty idea. He promised to end the P3 partnerships and said that the province will take care of building the new hospitals. What does he do when he got elected? All he did was change a few words in the Royal Ottawa Hospital deal and the cost went up 33%. In other words, instead of the new hospital being leased to the province, the province will now have a mortgage to pay. The cost went from 100million to 133million. On top of that, the construction of the desperately needed mental hospital was supposed to have started on November\December but McGuinty and his Fiberals have pushed back the construction start date twice. Now it is supposed to start in March.

After all this trouble the deal is still a P3 partnership. Fucked up isn't it?

Of course my "favourite" MacGuinty fuckup is the one that goes "I will stop all construction on the environmentally sensitive Oak Ridges Moraine and declare it off limits to development". I think he only got 5% or some small insignificant portion stopped and backed down on the rest after the contractors mentioned "lawsuit".

Contrast this with Toronto mayor David Miller who said he was going to kill the Toronto Islands bridge and squashed the project just days after he was elected. The port authority & contractors cried and threatened billion dollar lawsuits but to no avail, even though they actually had construction equipment on site the entire project was 86'd. He didn't back down, got the job done, and kept his election promise.
