The SDNet Bush Opinion Poll (Has your support changed?)

Post by CelesKnight »

As we can all see, the SDnet Presidential Election ended heavily in Kerry's favor. I'm curious to see how much of that is because disaffected conservatives are voting for Kerry, and how much is just because SDNet is unusually liberal, at least when compared to the US electorate who are split 48-44 in Kerry's favor.

As such, I'm asking everyone who voted in the election to give their opinion for Bush. If you didn't vote in 2000 just select who you would have voted for at the time. Also, I obviously couldn't get every possible permutation of the question, so please select whatever is closest to your views.

I voted for Bush in 2000, and I will vote for him again. I don't agree with much of what Bush says/proposes, but Kerry is IMHO far worse.

Hell, that would raise my level of support. You don't fuck with someone like that when they have the nuclear launch codes. :D

I wasn't old enough to vote in 2000. I will be voting Kerry this year. Getting rid of Bush is priority. If the incumbent was a little more tolerable, I might consider throwing my vote away on a third party candidate. Welcome to America, where you vote against people instead of for them.

I'd have voted Bush in 2000, although I'd have had to grit my teeth as I did it. Sure as fuck I'm not voting for him this year, I'd sooner vote Fidel Castro into office.

I once saw a hilarious site which said that that presidents should start acting crazy. "We're sorry Iraq, but we're going to have to invade. A 'Q' must always be followed by a 'U'. Hey, I don't make the rules, I just enforce them." You have do admit, I don't think anyone would mess with him.

I was too young to vote in 2000, but I was way out there on the libertarian extremist fringe at the time. I was a borderline black-helicopter nut. But now I guess I'm closer to the mainstream. I will probably end up voting for Bush simply because I just don't trust Kerry on foreign policy.

As for myself, I debated between voting for Bush or a third party in 2000. I didn't finally decided on Bush until I had the ballot in my hand.

I'll probably vote for Bush in 2004, but I won't really make up my mind until the debates.

I wish that there was a serious candidate with Kerry's domestic policy and Bush's forign policy.

I wasn't old enough to vote in 2000, but in the school mock election I voted for Nader purely for shits and giggles. I didn't like Gore or Bush, but I didn't really think at the time that Bush would really be such a fundie in office. I figured it was just an election ploy and that he would have to be much more, er, political about it if he was elected.

But since his fundie-ness will probably come to fruition with another election with very bad results for everything I stand for, I'm voting not-Bush, whoever that ends up to be (probably Kerry). Preventing a theocracy comes before all my other issues I worry about.

I was old enough to vote in 2000, barely, and I went with Gore because I thought that Bush would be entirely in bed with the Conservative Christian Right. Look at that, I was right. If I had my choice, I would have voted for Bradley in 2000 and McCain after that. I didn't particularly like Gore. I just like him more than Bush.

Wanted McCain, supported Bush because he was still better than Gore. In this election I'll probably vote Kerry. But there's still time till November.

OK, this is weird, in the presidential election thread, it was massivly in favor of Kerry, now it's fairly balanced, but towards Bush...

Could I vote (next election) I'd go for Kerry. Practical reality will keep him in Iraq and I don't see how he could really fuck it up, unless he ordered mass executions or carpet bombings or something.

That said, Bush is utterly incompetant on every concievable level. He's fucked over the military, pandered to pretty much everyone on the planet, coddled big business, vomited forth a never-ending stream money (while at the same time cutting taxes!), suppressed individual liberties, committed diplomatic blunders the size of Europa, he's done nothing about issues I personally find very distressing, he's a homophobic social regressive, and to top it all off he can't even deliever a fucking speech without screwing up in one way or another.

Also, I personally find "party loyalty" a bizarre concept.

Voted for Bush in 2000, mainly because I don't want Gore and Lieberman in the White House. Also I had figured the Democrats [prior to Sept. 11th]would have been competent enough to keep Bush from rocking the boat to much on domestic issues.

I will vote for Bush in November unless he really screws up before then.

I was too young to vote then, but will be voting for Kerry this November (given that some act of god doesn't interfer and push Dean into 1st).

While I semi-agree with Bush on his foreign policy, his domestic issues really bug me. This whole marriage amendment, faith-based initiative, Patriot Act, and other such issues just kinda piss me off. And on that note, which do people find more important...foreign policies or domestic issues?

Foreign, right now. I would never vote for Bush if foreign policy were not the key issue.

My major issue is domestic policy and civil/legal liberties. Bush has shat on the constitution in this regard and I will probably vote against him.

I don't see what Kerry would do to fuck up foreign policy- IMO, his policies would be a refershing change from 4 years of the most inept fuckup in foreign policy terms seen since ... well, ever. Like seriously, Bush hasn't even got the brains to have a consistent foreign policy. Anyone remember "fuck you world, we're going to Iraq" and then "ok, it's over, we demand money"?

Zanzibar hasn't been a nation since 1964, when it was merged with Julius Nyerere's Republic of Tanganyika (now Tanzania) after a bloody socialist revolution.
