Actually Stormbringer, I was acknowledging the problems, not saying to ignore them.
I mean, I think Canada's immigration policy is horrible.
(Ask my grandmother about it, and you'll get a 4 hour lecture. She used to work for the Federal government doing Census work....)
As for the ungaurded border, that's a mututal thing.
I think Canada and the US, when you get down to it, need to come together and develop the same immigration policy.
Oh, and as for the 12 million illegals in the States, what I'd do
"Nope, not Racist. You see, they broke the law. Just dealing with them"
I'd also start it the first year of a presidental term

And I agree. Bush and his party have pandered to the latino vote all too often to have an effective policy.Howedar wrote:I totally agree. But my point is that it is a bipartisan problem.
Oh, just a little clarification: I was talking about Vicinte Fox, not the TV channel.
I got what you meant, I do happen to know a little bit after all.

There in lies the problem, no one listens. Especially not the people that matter because it's too their advantage to start race wars.Solauren wrote:I think Canada and the US, when you get down to it, need to come together and develop the same immigration policy.

So true.
Wouldn't it be nice if a country-level political leader (i.e president, prime minster) got in to power, and the 1st thing they do is order all illegal immigrants deported, and pass laws against hiring/employing them, backed up with heavy fines?
All you'd have to do is raid every Wal-Mart in the United States at once, and the fines alone would solve the deficiet and about half the debt

I figured you did, but I wasn't sure if other readers would.Stormbringer wrote:I got what you meant, I do happen to know a little bit after all.
Howedar is no longer here. Need to talk to him? Talk to Pick.
That's a very bad analogy. Most of Canada's immigrants come by ship or plane. Now about the "illegal aliens" from Mexico: How does one patrol 1,000 miles of empty desert? It's not practically possible to patrol that much territory for an indefinate ammount of time. (seethis thread). In short, there is not much the US can do about those illegal aliens anyway...Hamel wrote:So they have the nerve to act like nags over Canada's immigration policies but won't do shit about the southern border
BTW, does anyone remember those 19 men (all muslim) men who were arrested in southern Ontario back in the summer? Apparently, some were taking flight lessons, they were flying over the Pickering nuclear power plant, and they had schematics of the CN Tower. Despite the fact that they were cleared of any wrongdoing, I'm convinced thay were up to something, especially considering the fact that in one of his tapes, Osama threatened Canada and several other countries that participated in the Afghanistan war...

When an article cites Canada's "liberal democratic identity" as a major problem, I am not inclined to think it's written by normal people. What alternative form of government would they prefer that we have, if not liberal democracy? Despotic theocracy, like their buddies in Saudi Arabia?

"conservative pseudo-religious identity" is probably the ideal of the writer.Darth Wong wrote:When an article cites Canada's "liberal democratic identity" as a major problem, I am not inclined to think it's written by normal people. The main problem with Canada is their
Generous constitutional freedoms

(1) define "better".
(2) I never said anything about who is "more free" or who has the "better constitution", I was merely pointing out that some people seem to think that constitutional freedoms are a bad thing because they favor terrorists.
