Almost as stupid as his economic advisor stating that exporting jobs is good for the economy. Idiot.

Except that Mankiw was right. The outsourcing is good for the economy in the long run.

He was right, in a refreshing moment of honesty.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

He was economically correct, but politically stupid. Kind of reminds me of when James Watt(Reagan's secretary of (state?)) said that they had the perfect team because it consisted of "A gay, three women, two blacks, and four jews" or something like that.

James Watt was the secretary of the interior; at one point, he said we didn't have to worry about taking care of the environment because the rapture was coming.

Please tell me he was fired shortly after he said that.
Don't hate; appreciate!

Watt was a proponent of "dominion theology," an authoritarian Christian heresy that advocates man's duty to "subdue" nature. His deep faith in laissez-faire capitalism and apocalyptic Christianity led Secretary Watt to set about dismantling his department and distributing its assets rather than managing them for future generations. During a Senate hearing, he cited the approaching Apocalypse to explain why he was giving away America's sacred places at fire-sale prices: "I do not know how many future generations we can count on before the Lord returns."

Actually he mostly got away with that without getting fired, although he took a beating in the press. What eventually killed him was the comment that went something like, "we've got a gay, two blacks, two Jews, a cripple... and we have talent." He was forced to resign after saying that.
