Silly internet users created their own jargon a while back by taking other characters and replacing the alphabet. It's called leet-speak because the most common adjective these people use to describe themselves is leet(elite) and in the speak 1337.

It's based on the OICW, plus the Phased Plasma Rifle in T2. But I thought that the OICW's design wasn't aesthetically pleasing, since the grenade launcher was on top, so I placed the rifle on top while making the GL sufficiently large as to not compromise its range too severely.

That gun is a phased plasma rifle.

Hehe. So, how the heck can I improve my drawing? I need help since compared to many others, my pencil drawings are hideous.

Is scribbling drawings of guns in your notebooks considered practice?

Aside from practice, what about my materials and drawing styles?

Some could consider them as sketches.

I'm not a good critic, but your style seems a bit childish. Try to learn a bit about perspective.

Anyway my drawing skill is probablly at the same or even at a lower level, so maybe there are here people who could give you better advices.

Prespective? As in the angle? Hmm.... I guess your right. Well, is the drawing good for an amateur 14 year old?

I suppose these are illustrations for Soldiers Of The Sovereignty?

(checks out "Lt. Baylor" insignia on the armoured soldier)

Indeed they are - however, considering that he was lanky enough to resemble a Xril, I was about to think that it was fan art for "The Wormhole War".

(only strengthened by the fact that the OICW-ish guns you've drawn bear a great resemblance to what I envision the Xvarrol's weaponry as resembling)

Of non-Xril explanations for Baylor's lanky appearance - he could be the descendant of H.P. Lovecraft or just grown up on a low-grav planet.

BTW - I have done art for TWW too, I only need a scanner or a digi-cam as well as a webpage for hosting. They include an ordinary male Xril, an off-duty Xvarrol, Xhatrr Dominion Army exo-armour without the backpacks, a female Jardra supposed to be the avatar of the Overseer Of Sarkai, two Jardra soldiers in full battle gear (one from the Avarnam Defense Force and a Sarkai Lunar militiaman), a Xril city by night and a Xril battletank as well as size-comparison charts for the various spaceship types.

LOL. How can it be a fan art? I have no idea what the TWW infantry looks like

Yeah, it is a bit skinny, my next attempts will be trying to make him look fatter. But at least he's quite well proportioned and his arms and legs and head ain't too weird. Plus some people are actually skinny like that while being physically fit, look at some basketball players and stuff.

Lol. God. OICW type guns are THAT common in sci-fi? Well, doesn't make them any less cool. I'll stick with my OICW look alike.

Yeah, Baylor could've grown in a low planet. Although in Baylor's RPG profile in a forum RPG elsewhere, I made him grow up in Europa.

POST YOUR TWW FAN ART.

If you wanted an astetically pleasing weapon to use as inspiration, why not base it on the F2000? Nice, smooth, futuristic appearance.

Europa... IIRC, that's a moon of Jupiter. And moons usually have a low gravity...
POST YOUR TWW FAN ART.
Even better - I'm thinking of when I finally get time to make a website, I'll make it an illustrated online guide to TWW!

Uh-huh. I like the smooth surface but I also like angles and I shun the round "angles". My design is quite futuristic (T2). But that doesn't make the F2000 any less kick assed. In my mind I follwed the Phased Plasma Rifle from T2 on the general look, angles, bullpup-ness and whatnot. And then the OICW mostly on the grenade launcher and the proportion (I wanted the GL to be long to give it better range than your joe average rifle-GL. I also wanted to invert the OICW's design, big rifle on top and smaller GL at the bottom instead of the other way around). The F2000... well, I haven't looked on it for inspiration. I'll check my files on the F2000. I saved that site in my HD.

EDIT: Now that I looked at some pics. I realized that the butt/stock of the F200 looks awesome and I want to incorporate that in my next drawing of my main battle rifle. The design of the front looks a bit similar. The top of the F2000, the one with the scope and such looks awesome and gives me the impression that the stuff up there is more advanced than most other weapons. Hmmm.... I want to incorporate that, but I also want that handle-thinggy which you find in M16s and such.

EDIT: Will you be so kind as to check my fic? I'd be honored.

Hmm.... how can I get HAB members to view my fic?

@ Peregrine: Really? Hmmm.... I thought that Europa was.... quite a large moon. Hmmm.... he was born on Europa, but maybe the colony structures had gravity thinggies which mimicked that of Earth grav. And maybe they also had exercise things, which keep them from being flimsy.

And he could've moved to Earth or something.

And maybe you can help me with my drawings and help me make a site for my fic? :D

I suck in making websites.

Well, I'll have a look at your fic on the weekend. As for the website: If that question was directed at me, then you've got the wrong guy. I don't know shit about designing websites either :).

Now, one last thing about the rifle: You said you like the M16-style carrying handles, so in order to include one while keeping the appearance as streamlined as possible, why not put one on top of the scope? A carrying handly on top of the scope would be more useful in that function than if it was under the scope, and could also serve as a backup iron sight in case the scope was damaged...

To be honest, I have actually forgotten the exact size of Jupiter's moons but I know that most are smaller than Earth, if not all of them.

I might need to read up some more on astronomy.

That sounds okay, but visualizing it... it looks kinda weird and not as asthetically pleasing. Can you gimme a real life example and image of something like that?

Well, the only example I can think of is the handle/scope assembly on the G36. Personally I think it looks kewl 8), plus it blends well into the overall appearance...
