Asking your ex's friend out ...

Post by Crom »

So I was just sitting around one day and I realized that my ex-gf's friend is pretty cool. I thought about asking her out, but then I stopped to think about it for a second.

Right now my ex and I get along pretty well, no hard feelings or anything. Would it be right of me to ask out her friend on a date? Should I speak to her about it first?

I see nothing wrong with that, and its not like you want to go out with her sister.

Cool. Thanks, I just wanted a second opinion before I tried anything.

Can't say without further info. Is your ex the jealous type? How long ago did you two break up? (If less than a week, HELL NO) How well do these two friends get along? Are they best friends since diapers and one could try to stab the other and they'd still be friends, or what?

Maybe you should test the waters a little and ask your ex a 'hypothetical' question to see her response. Don't mention names and try to be vague and unspecific, as if you're just thinking about getting into dating again and just in case you end up interested in one of her friends what she would think.

I've seen way too many friends going through post-dating fiascos to not be cautious about it.

While we were dating she had at least one outbreak of jealousy. Otherwise she seems pretty cool. We broke up in December. So more than a week, thankfully.

They seem to get along pretty well. They've known each other for about a year, though my ex thinks very highly of her. I'm not quite sure the level of their friendship, my ex actually has very few friends, and seems to like her very much.

Well, I definitely want to avoid any fiascos. I think testing the waters seems like a reasonable way to go about the business.

As long as you're all being adults about it, you ought to be fine.
