Actually it used to be shown on PBS or one of those other public access channels in California. I don't remember if it was edited or anything but at least it was subbed.
EoE is the most graphic thing I've ever seen, period. It could never be aired on American television.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.
NGE got aired here in Australia, if I recall correctly they aired it again due to requests from the public. EoE however I doubt we'll see that on TV. It did just come out on DVD though, but I'm over NGE for now so it can wait
Its just the blood thing... and maybe the abundance of nude barbie dolls that keeps it banned from the US (Shinji's landing on Rei after her shower comes to mind as a definant no-no for US censors)... Its a nice series except that I wanted to rip out Shinji's eyes and ram them down this throat by the end of the series to quiet his whining... but overall it was okay.

In college, my roomie was a big fan of NGE, and he had whole
CD-Rs full of the damn show....
I never understood why only the EVAs could enage the Angels....what
is so damn special about them? Just put a giant speargun onto a tank
and you have the perfect anti-angel weapon..

Angles have something called an AT Field (Absolute Terror) that renders all conventional weapons totally useless, and even greatly lessens the effects of nuclear weapons.
The Evas are copies of the Angels, and use their own AT Fields to neutralise the Angel's, then destroys them.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

"And besides, who cares if a monster destroys Australia?"
Nor is it a practical one, since you have to direct the entire power supply of the entire country (not to mention a shit load of transformers and cooling devices) just to power it. Then you have to manually change the fuses and wait for it to power up between shots.

This implies that even Star Trek could defeat the Angels. Oh wait . . . yes, Starfleet could defeat the Angels. Hell, the Borg could probably defeat them. They're all on about the same level of tactical and strategic understanding.
Technically, handful of modern bunker-busting bombs should kill most of the Angels. Hell, a backpack nuke should've been enough.
Evangelion is mostly consistent in it's inconsistency.

That's my anime rant of the hour.
Ooops, that should read "Starfleet" . . . what was I thinking . . .
