Playing around with phpBB
Well, I set up a little install over on my server. So far it's the only thing on the server right now because I can't get any goddamn symlinks to various users' home directories working under Apache.
So if any of you guys want to go ahead and register over there just to putz around and see if you encounter any errors, go right ahead. It's running on a Pentium II by the way, so I'm kind of curious how the database will handle load.
Anyway, does anyone have any ideas about doing the symlink thing? I read through the Apache docs and turned up some stuff, but none of it worked.

Well, I sort of got the symlink thing sorted out by enabling mod_userdir in Apache. I still get 403 Forbidden errors on the user directories, though, which is highly annoying.
At least the phpBB and the PostgreSQL database is stable.

Testing, mainly. I want to learn PHP, and this is one way to start. I also want to learn how to muck around with SQL.

Sorry, haven't been able to check my email for the past couple days... seems with my immune system shot from having mono a month ago, I've picked up the flu or some virus like that.

The nice thing about modding phpBB is that most mods involve uploading a couple of files, and some text editing. POSSIBLY some SQL stuff. Most mods take maybe a few minutes to do. However, I do recommend backing up any files you edit before you mod them.

Yes, certainly. I typically comment out what I can before I mod stuff; otherwise, I just make a backup.Vertigo1 wrote:The nice thing about modding phpBB is that most mods involve uploading a couple of files, and some text editing.
