For what it's worth, I read the same story in today's (sunday) edition. However, saying "we've almost got him" pales in comparison to "Osama on trial" which I'd rather read. Let's hope this pulls through.

While I hope this is true, I kind of doubt the accuracy of Fark.com articles. IIRC, Fark claimed the same thing a few months ago. And a few months before that. And a few months before that.

I've seen the same thing reported on a couple sites now. And I saw a report on my local news about 40 minutes ago.

Yes, but do you recall the original invasion of Afghanistan, and how they were convinced they had him cornered in a remote mountain region because the fighting was dramatically intensifying as they approached and encircled a particular stronghold? Virtually the entire press corps was convinced that he was in there, and ... he wasn't.

He probably was in there--initially. However, the initial attack was made purely by rather unreliable local Afghan fighters, and I believe the running assumption now is that he bribed his way out with a small party before any American forces arrived.

It would be nice if those stories were true, but until more sources can confirm it, I'll take it with a grain of salt.

I'm sure the reaction from bin Laden being caught would be similar to what happened when Saddam was captured, but with more celebration. However, if the situation in Iraq continues, it would probably wear off in a few months.

More like "President Bush Football Tackles Osama on White House Lawn!" in October and the story is that President Bush found out that bin Laden wasn't hiding in Afghanistan or Pakistan, but rather in the bushes outside his house, where he personally tackled him and punching him out.

Meh, there has been bits and pieces of rumors for about a month now about Osama Jinn Laden being tracked and cornered. I believe it when I see his head on a pike on the white house lawn.
