Dress thy links

[link-dressing class]

Quick class on dressing of links:

One wishes to post a link about a Ralph Nader news story, so one finds the link:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/02/ ... index.html

Realizing that to be a "raw" or "undressed" link, one does the following to change the link to "Ralph Nader"

Code: Select all

Ralph Nader
The result is a link that looks like this:

Ralph Nader

Arnold is absolutely correct; there's no reason foreign-born citizens who've lived here long enough shouldn't be able to be President.

Oh, yeah. No, he doesn't want to president. No. No, he has no ambitions of power and glory. No.

It has nothing to do with why he longed, long before meeting his wife, to marry into the Kennedys. No. It's not why he's made all the moves that have lead him to the governorship of the largest state. No.

Well, maybe his past will finally catch up with him. The guy seems to have a lot of things in his closet, but people did support a former drug using alcoholic "Reservist". Americans sometimes have a strange sense of issues.

Shit. What was it, "Demolition Man" where they predicted this exact string of events? And he eventually gets a library/stadium/whatever named after him?

In essence I agree with the idea. But it doesn't trump the paranoid idea a lot of people will hold of someone coming into the country (with foreign support) and quietly building a base with the intent to run for the presidency. In the Cold War people would have been leery of a commie agent. Before, any nationalist agent. Americans seem to like to now that the man that's in the office has feet firmly rooted here. Jus Solis.

There would be a requirement to have lived here a number of years, which is far too long for any spy.

The voters can judge for themselves whether they think someone is sufficiently loyal to America. They don't need certain choices crossed off the list for them.

We are ineligible for EU membership. Death penalty, you know.

There's this talk show host out in LA who gets rebroadcast fuckin' everywhere. His name is Phil Hendry. He once said that if American's don't wake up to what's going on in this country, then we're going to need a Hitler to do it for us. As horrible as it may sound, I agree. Hitler fucked up Europe so bad that now they're all cool and mellowed and shit. You never really learn to chill out until you're forced to realize out fucking nuts you really are. We're not yet realizing this.

I say ammend the constitution. If you've been a citizen for more than thirty years, you can be president.

Also, we are not located in Europe.

Oddly enough, that doesn't seem to be a prerequisite, judging by the stories of Israel being considered for membership that have popped up here a couple of times.
Don't hate; appreciate!

What got me is this:
"In San Francisco it is license for marriage of same sex. Maybe the next thing is another city that hands out licenses for assault weapons and someone else hands out licenses for selling drugs, I mean you can't do that," Schwarzenegger said on NBC.
Huh. Did you know that handing out marriage liscenses to people of the same sex is one step away from liscensing illegal arms and drug dealers? :?

That's not what the analogy means, Gil.

Ah-nuld is obviously talking about the dangerous precedent of allowing a city government to unilaterally defy state law, although I would agree that on the surface, it does look like a really bad slippery-slope fallacy.

I think Arnold is more concerned with making sure Republicans don't get too unhappy with him. And that he makes a show of being a conservative.

There is the "Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium" in Austria(Graz)

But they plan to rename it afaik, because Arnold is the Governor of a state with the dead penalty now.

No, its that if he allows San Francisco to get away with this, what will they do next? Allowing a city to overrule the state is a dangerous precedent and one that the city should not be allowed to get away with no matter what the law in question is.
