I can understand both your points.. As far as the "gay shield," I've never heard of that, but there should be (at least IMO) anti-discrimination laws... This works, of course, for both hetero- and homosexual people.

I have heard of the gay sheild as Homosexuals who have less expeirnce to do a job than say a straight person. The employer tries to hire the more qualified person but can't because the Homosexual while say he was discriminated against.

Fisher: While I agree that it's absurd to have gay parades the way they are now (people acting in ways they'd /never/ act in real life), just look at Carnival or Mardi Gras. It's not just gay parades where everyone acts like a fucking fruit. Cirque du Soleil anyone? When they start claiming to be the representatives of homonissity world wide, I'm a bit miffed, cause I am far from flaming, but if they want to do that for fun, whatever.

Oh, just to add: At my school we have a cross dress day where guys come in dressed like girls and vice versa. STRAIGHT guys are the ones who usually do it and it looks absurd. But no worse than any parades.

What kind of school do you go to? Is there any deeper meaning to these days? Any reason? Like weeding out the kids who look like they might do this on a regular basis?

It's just a normal high school, I'd presume. Both of mine did it, too. It's fucking stupid, too. Generally the ones who DO do it are the idiot football/basketball players (and in some case, soccer players). There's no reason to do it, other than some sort of participation in "Spirit Week," or what have you.

I don't think so.....
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

And were either never accepted or failed out of PI?

Just because they're interested in going into the Marines doesn't mean they made it. Or that they're even good (or even adequete) Marines. But, like everything else in life, I'm sure a few have slipped through the cracks...

We can definently do without the men riding giant phalic objects....

As far as the "gay shield" goes... Anyone that uses it is an asshole. Anti-discriination laws exist so a person has to hire on the basis of qualification.

I've never heard of this "gay shield". How do you know it actually exists, rather than simply being the dirty little office-politics rumbling that goes on when a gay guy gets hired and some people try to spread shit about him not being qualified for the job?

I'd like to try to explain away New Mexico. It makes NO SENSE. Yes, it was the home of a silver rush way back when, and yes it's an intrnational hot spot for vacation.. but that's about it..

I mean, aliens landed there, anything can happen, right?

Well, consider the other controversies that have been covered in New Mexico.. the North Korean leader last year, the deal with Wen Ho Lee a few years back.. there's a lot of political influence in New Mexico, so it doesn't make any sense, especially considering the demographic (no race being majority [the only state like that] and a large portion of the religious people being Roman Catholic).
