The make-up thing was only going with The Duchess' comment about the "fashion" of the 80's rock scene. I don't remember any guys wearing make-up either.

The funny thing about that is, eventualy every one had both ears pierced because the damn rules changed so often or got confussed. Today its the left and your fruity, tommarrow its the right ear and you're fruity.

Meh, while I did have my ear pierced, it quickly grew over after my 18th birthday while I was in boot camp.

No, big hair was the worst part of the '80s.

Were you there? Normal womens' "big hair" was not as exaggerated as the rocker look. But there was far more variety than there is today, where everyone looks like Britney Spears.

I thought AC/DC has pretty much dressed the same forever. Angus being in the school boy outfit everyone else is in t-shirt and jeans.

I don't recall what Queen dressed like in the 80's except for Freddy Mercury doing the leather pants thing for the Crazy Little Thing Called Love video.

KISS ditched the makeup sometime in the 80s and went without until after that "Unplugged" bit they did on MTV got the KISS nostalgia going.

Now, Motley Crue had some really heavy makeup to go with their leather bonage outfits in the early 80s..

Cinderella and early Poison come to mind when it comes to glam metal dressing up. Most Rock bands at least had the big hair and spandex until G-N-R made it okay to kill that (although Axel had big hair in the Welcome to the Jungle video. Then grunge really killed "the look" and didn't really do a lot of long term good for the music either.

Yes Mike, I was there. I know that most big hair was not as exaggerated as the rocker look (which was so big as to be comical). Still, big hair doesn't do anything for me. Just has an un-mantained look to me.

That was kinda the point I was trying to make. The 80s were downright effete while the 90s celebrated the grunge look. I have no problem with the term "metrosexual." At least it gives the scruffy redneck types something other than "gay" to call a man who can tastefully groom and dress himself.

Actually, it's more than just dressing and grooming. The term "metrosexual" was coined to describe men who pay for things like manicures, facial treatments at beauty salons, etc.

Although I'll never pay for a manicure, pedicures are a totally different story. Sure you can do it yourself, but it is extremely relaxing to have beautiful women massaging and scrubbing your feet. For $20 every two months, it isn't exactly a major investment either and giving yourself a pedicure is a pain in the ass.
