In-Humanoids: book one-The New Arrivals

CHAPTER ONE...FALLING STAR:

The high vaulted ceramonial chamber was filled with the low, rumbling funeral drums. The slaves carried the body of C'ata's father into the centre of the room, doused it with ceramonial oils, and put a touch to it. The corpse, covered by a black veil, began to disappear as the sicking smell of burt flesh filled the nostrils of every man, woman and child in the room.
Still, observers filed by the burning corpse. Reptilian men and women, most covered in brilaint gold an damber scales, others ranging from hulking warriors, more like walking dinosaurs than men, to his father's slave engineers, small, gray skinned creatures. Nobles filed by as well, their gleaming silver and gold armor worked and etched with the details of their House history, their skin a dark green striped randomly with amber. C'ata was the last to walk by. Unlike the others, his father's slaves and warriors, his six wives in their black veils, and his nobles, equal in C'eian law, the young C'ata didnt weep.
Instead, a wicked, toothy, contented grin creased across his snub-nosed reptilian muzzle. A slender, clawed hand touched his shoulder. It belonged to a young female, an attractive one too, gold and amber skinned, with a sharp wedge-shaped muzzle framed by a mass of golden hair that rested against her shoulders. "You shouldnt be so pleased. At least not in public, my love." she said, grinning.
"I'm God Emperor now. I can do what i please. Gather the Imperial Knights, T'ika. And tell them to stop whining."
"As you command, Emperor."

T'ahas, Grand Master of Knights under the old Emperor, was among the dozen or so noblemen and women gathered in the personal quarters of the new C'eian Emperor. He could aready see where this new regime was going.
Besides having every vissage of the last regime obliterated, including obital bombing temples built by his father, C'ata had the nerve to allow that whore lover of his, T'ika, into the Imperial throne room! It was bad enough to destroy his father's memory, it was another story to mate with a commoner's daughter and give her free range of the C'eian's most holy places. And there she was, sitting in the throne, legs crossed and with a smug grin on her face. She knew who was in charge...and she happened to be fucking him.
"Where's your lover, whore?" he hissed. The other knights took this moment to look inocent when T'ika glared down at him. She drew a breathe to respond, but was stopped by a familiar voice. "He's right here, T'ahas. So watch your mouth."

T'ika smiled smugly.

"Now, allow me to explain how i've found the answer to our food problem and our population explosion." he said with hsi costumary lack of preamble. He raised his claws, clapping hard. A holo-imager blinked on; threads of light forged an image of a blue and white orb that hove above the throne. It was a planet, beautiful, with amber and lush greens interwoven into it's form. It looked in many ways like C'eia had millennia ago, before the Great Crash, but instead of one massive continent there were many smaller ones, and thousands of tiny dots, islands, covering the globe. T'ahas sighed deep; to think that the endless cityscape that was C'eia once looked that pristine...
"This is a simulation...of our world?" a noblewoman asked.
"No, this is a planet in a system not far distant from our holdings. The aboriginal culture who inhabt this world call it Earth. Aside from variant continent shifts, it's identical to our own. It's the thrid planet from it star, a mostly oxygen atmosphere, carbon based life...just like home. More over...the indiginous sapients are numerous...if a few million die, it wont be a great loss to their kind. And they could feed many."
"You're talking about eating them?" T'ahas said, stunned, "Their sentient creatures, C'ata, you cant..."
"A G'ashti is sentient. A sand-ripper is sentient. More importantly we're sentient and we're starving! Or more to the point the commoners are starving, and they'll soon question why you and i eat meat and they choke down protein pills when they outnumber us a thousand to one!"
There was a long silence.
"Then we're in agreement." C'ata said smugly.
"What exactly do you propose we do? Invade?"
"Not outright no. They arent an advanced people, not by our standards, but it would still take many ships. Many armies. They do have nuclear weapons after all. What i was thinking is something more subtile. Fifty years ago my father conquered the Echoes by de-terraforming their world. It took twenty yeras. This world, so similar to C'eia, will take no more than twelve. One ship, one army, and one Warp Gate...and we can have a new world and a new source of food in a mere twelve years. Maybe less. That is what i propose."

One week later...Venusian orbit.

A flash of light darted across space, tearing a bloody wound in the fabric of space/time. The slender, spire-shaped C'eian battlecarrier drifetd out of 4-dimensional space, it's vast gravity sail, a disk a full fifty miles around, pulled the hundred mile long vessel through space. It hung above the sterile landscape of Venus, motionless, but only for a moment; the glare of ion drives ignited, and the enlogated teardrop shapes of C'eian troopships were birthed forth from the battlecarrier's hangars, pushed through space on contrails of blue-white.
Holographic cloaking engaged as they neared the moon. To the human eye they were all but invisible. The only evidence of their arrival was a momentary 'skip' of one ship across the atmosphere, sending a chunk of antanae hurtling towards the Earth as a burning ember.

Kira Mannion sat, again, in jail. She wasnt sure if her mother would bail her out this time, and she didnt care; she clocked that smug hick Mercer when he tried to break up the protest and she was damn glad she did. His weapons killed millions, in Serbia and the Middle East, and his hack'n'burn mentality had leveled whole forests. Sitting in this cell, draped in an orange jupsuit, if she spent the rest of her life in jail she'd still be glad she broke his nose.
She brushed her dark brown hair, almost black in's hue, back from her face, an attractive, gently rounded face, with piercing blue-white eyes, her thin lips bearing a contented half-smile, and as she did she tried to remember a time when her life was simpler...it was difficult to say the least. "Mannion, up." the thickset guard barked, opening the cell door, "Your sister made bail."
"Wonderful." she said, "Is the princess here to greet me?"
"What?"
"Nothing, dont think too hard, Barney. I can already hear the gears grinding."

Kira walked gingerly past the various pigs as they went about their work. Enforcers, her colorful term for policemen, had to be number three on her list of hated professions, with Coporates and Republicans being numbers one and two respectively.
Her sister, Kylie, stood waiting in the loby, signing the last few papers to get her released. Kylie was eighteen, a full two years younger than Kira, and yet between her youthful features, not unlike Kira's, and her prepie atire she looked all of thirteen. If a thirteen-year-old were trying to look like an eighteen year old republican that is.
"You dont look happy to see me, princess."
"Dont...dont call me that, Kira."
"Yes your highness."
Kylie threw her arms up in anguish. She took the time to appologize to the cops before storming out, Kira in tow. As soon as they were outside, she exploded.
"Why the hell do you always have to make an ass of yourself? Dont you know how this looks, dont you know how mom and dad..."
"Mom? Fuck her. And dad's a klansman!"
"He is not, dont tell people that, god! What is it with you, you act like anyone with money is satan and mom and dad are Nazis!" Kira leaned in close, her blue-white eyes meeting those of Kylie, "If the shoe fits, princess. Now give me a break, i'm tired, i'm hungry, and dont need this from you too."
Kylie shook her head. "What happened to you. You used to love your family until you started with this eco shit and went all hippie on us."
"It's called a moment of clarity, i call it realizing what kind of shit i was up to my chin in for the first seventeen years of my life! Maybe someday you will too."
Par the course, Kira stormed off in the general direction of home. "Do you need me to drive you home." Kylie said, breaking long seconds of silence. "I'll walk, thanks." Kira snapped.

A tiny red streak shot across the sky. A falling star. In times long past they were considered a sign of great importance, be it for good or ill. This shooting star was a severed sensor antanae burning up in our atmosphere, not the star stuff seen by civilizations past to fall from the heavens. But it was no less an omen.
Generations later, after the full truth of the C'aian invasion was revealed, the name Kira Mannion would be known across the world. The girl who led the Human Resistance, who fought tooth and nail to save mankind with nothing more than nerve and a few stolen guns. The woman whose name would be spoken in the same circles as Joan of Arc, who would lead a rebel army against an invasion from beyond our galaxy.
But first, she who would lead mankind, would be chrsitened by the falling bolt of red-orange steel streaking across the sky.

You mean Inhumanoids? Like the old 80s cartoon?

For those reading the story, the next chapter is on the way.

A little preview, we see how C'ata and the C'eians set themselves up on Earth, and begin the process of transfoming our world into their own. Naturally, our heroine gets caught up in it, and meets a new, and unexpected, ally.

The Inhumanoids was a great 80s cartoon that dealt with giant monsters living inside the earth and the action hero fighting geologist guys that saved the earth from them. I have the DVD!

One problem for me, youve alreayd revealed that the humans eventually win. For me, If I alreayd know the outcome I don't ten to need to listen/read the rest of the story.

Every generation faces darkness. Darkness within and without. It comes in many forms, some alien to our minds, some perfectly mondane. Some terrifying, and others at first seeming harmless, even appealing to us. We talk of the dark places, the places where angels fear to tread, where we all must someday go to face the night alone. But sometimes, we must realize the darkest place of all is the human heart...

CHAPTER TWO...THE CONSPIRACY

"Are you gong to stop picking at it?" Andrew Grecko said with his characteristic smugness. Either Mercer didnt notice or didnt care. "Fuck yeah, that little bitch broke muh' nose week-fo-last! Fucking Greenpeace bastards." Mercer snapped in his thick southern drawl, feeling his fat fingers across his bandaged nose. That 'eco bitch' as he called her had broke it prety thouroughly for someone a foot shorter and two hundred pounds less than he. Orland Mercer was what could be called an unattractive man, not one you'd expect to be surrounded by women as frequintly as he is. But then again, fifty billion dollars is quite an incintive to look for deeper beauty in a person. Huge and fat, his body looking more like an inflated ballow thana man, crammed into a fifteen-hundred dollar suit.
Gecko was different. He was handsome, in an oily, slick kind of sense. A tall black man, though light skinned, his hair shaved bald, dark glasses resting on his high-bridged nose. At least he looked halfway decent in his Armani suit, unlike the rotund Mercer.
He snorted, "Orland please, that's so un PC. They're called naturalists now." he continued to speak, even though his toothy grin, "So we dont get sued or something, ok?"
"Hey, it an't muh' job to be politically correct! That's your job, unless i'm mistaken."
Gecko rolled his eyes.
"I toll' you Andy i don't want no Greanpeace cocksucker protesting outside muh' god damn building! Why were they even there?"
"Orland i cant just have them shot or something. We have a Constitution...unfortunately."
Mercer spouted expliatives in an incohernet stream, "Well god damn it boy she broke muh' fuckin' nose! You know muh' doctor says these fucking things, in my heart you know, were killing me...what were they?"
"Heart murmers, Orland, and try not to have one!"

While Mercer continued to wax poetic about his heart, Gecko poured himself a drink of scotch and though of hwo glad he'd be as soon as this fucker killed over. He gazed out of the 112th story window of ArmsTech corporate headquarters, looking down over Los Angeles as it sprawled out benneath them. He thought about the millions of lives being lived down there, the skyline that bore the mark of Mercer's subsidiary companies. It was tempting to think he could rule it all.
Mercer knew he was sick, but he didnt know he was on detah's door. Gecko did. When Mercer went down after that little tart with the Goth makeup clocked him, Gecko felt like dancing...he thought he was finally rid of that fat motherfucker.
"...I could even die, Andy!" Mercer said, completing his tantrum. In his mind, all Gecko could think was Promises, promises.
"Uh...well, Orland, calm down."
"Calm down, you calm the fuck down, boy. Tell me what you're gonna' do about this shit!"
"I have a plan."
"Oh, well then, you have a plan! Well, my God in heaven, that's all i needed to hear. Thank you for brightening my day, you stupid bastard." Mercer sarcastically snapped.
Believe me, it'll brightening both our days... he thought.

"Hold my calls," Gecko said to his titular secretary, "Tell them i'm in a meeting."
In his spacious office, in near pitch black darkness, he stood for a few moments. Then he clapped and the hard yellow light of floressent lights filled the room. A figure that could be a human at first glance sat at his cahir. She wasnt a human though; she was a slender, gold-and-amber skinned reptile, the smae size and build as a girl of seventeen with golden blonde hair resting on her shoulders, but her face was a sharp wedge shape with two almond-shaped green eyes set just above it. Her grin was a razor-toothed smile, like a crocadile, but more humanoid.
"How many times must i tell you, T'ika, i hate the dark." he siad.
"And i hate the smell of shit but i wont tell you not to take one."
"Yes, well, dont you think it's time to mak eyour little 'move', hmm. I cant keep hiding your people forever."
"Actually, all is ready to 'move' this very night. When yoru master flies to this New York of yours. When he'd dead, you'll be given control of this company. Does that please you."
"First, he'd not my master, he's a fat idiot. Secondly, yes if i werent straight i'd be fucking skiping home right now."
"Just remember our bargan. We help you, you help us."
"Of course." he stepped forward a few steps and ssaid, "One other thing...no one, and i mean no one in all of creation, sits in my eight hundred dollar oakwood chair but me. Understand."
She raised the C'eian equivilent of an eyebrow and smiled smugly. "Oh course." she said standing up slowly and walking over to the window. She too looked out over the city below. But when T'ika saw it she saw not the millions of human lives, nor the marvelous skyline. All she saw were insects to be crushed.

The resounding sounds of gunfire filled the makeshift firing range Henry Daniels, businessman, had made for himself in back of his suburban home. In his profession one had to remain sharp; there was always another businesman out there looking to kill you. You see, in his profession, 'business' was a gentle euphemism for killing a man in cold blood for money.
Coloquially, he would be called a mercenary.
Euphemisms aboud in his business. For instance, the young woman he was waiting for, in his profession, would be called a 'customer'. His customer had just arrived, and was walking towards him; a girl, all of twent, a good ten years younger than him, a blonde girl in a white business suit that clung tightly to her slender, model-like figure. He thought to himself that she should become a mercenary; she could easily knock a man's eyes out of his head with that ass.
"Mr Daniels i presume?"
"Fuck yeah. Who do you want dead, the price depends on the person. Plugging an ex-boyfreind alone is ten grand."
"My but aren't you to the point."
"Damn straight, now who do you want in a box."
She reached into a brown purse and puleld forth a picture of a grotesquely obese man surrounded by a lot of good looking women he could only assume to be whores. "That's Orland Mercer, right?"
"Precicely, Mr Daniels."
"Fuck that, i dont kill people who could by my organs on the blackmarket. You can find another simpleton to kill him."
"We are prepared to pay you five million dollars."
"Like i said, when do you want him dead and how. You want i should make it look like an accident?" she shook her head, "That's not a requirement. What we want, really, is for him to be killed on this flight. We've arranged for you to sit next to him, and no other passengers were allowed to sit next to you two. For all the airline knows, those seats are just empty. You'll kill him en rout to New York, near the end of teh flight preferably so he doenst begin to stink. Then we'll handle cleanup. Is this satisfactory."
"Lady when you said i'd be getting five million dollars you could've shot my foot off and it'd be satisfactory."

Daniels looked around the crampt interior of the plane. Damned if there werent anyone in the seats near his. He wished every customer was this helpful. Mercer sat down next to him, and Daniels shifted uneasily in his seat, pretnding to nod off to sleep. He was awake the whole time. He was holding a knife-and God knows how his customer got it in his suitcase-and waiting. He figured he shouldve gotten an oscar for pretending to sleep through half the damn flight.
Then, about twenty mineuts out from New York, he pretended to wake up. He turned to Mercer and smiled, "Excuse me sir, can you tell me the time." he siad, "I think i slept have way to New York."
"Oh it's about..."
Mercer never finsihed his sentace. Daniels plunged the knife into his side, stabbing it deep straight into his heart. Mercer died that instant without another sound. "It's about time fat ass." he muttered under his breath. Daniels concealed the little blood by stuffing Mercer's coat halfway into the wound. Twenty mineuts later, the plane landed and Daniels walked calmly off and into the night. By the time everyone else had field out of the plane a stewardess notices Mercer was still sitting there, head leaned against his window.
She touched his shoulder...and he collapsed on the floor.

Daniels wasnt identified or mentioned by a single person on the plane. He was on the next flight back to LA that night.

The newscaster, a five cent anchor with $3500 breast implants, said that Orland Mercer had suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. To which Kira responded, "Thank god." as she sat in the abandoned werehouse and watched the report. "Mr Mercer, founder and CEO of ArmsTech Corp, is in good spirits and was wlel enough to give thsi interview..." the newscaster said, leading into a video of Mercer standing outsideof a hospial. "Well, i'm a little worse for wear, but it takes more than a heart attack to kill a texan!" he said to much cheering.
Besides thinking the crowd was comprised of morons, Kira noticed something else...odd. His nose. She broke it, or that's what they said on the news, but it wasnt healing well because he was sick. Yet here he was, nary a bandage in sight.
"Herman...Herman come here a sec!"
A rotund twenty six year old wadled over to her side, looking every bit the pale, uncoordinated hacker he was. "What? Did Mercer actually nuke the whales this time?"
"No, no, look...didnt i break his nose?"
"Yeah so?"
"Why an't it broken?"
"A godo surgeon...who cares."
"I care." she said, "I dont know why, but i do. Somethings not right about him. He's to articulate, to...good."
"We are talking about Orland Mercer...the living embodiment of every corrupt, antienvironmental, pro-gun stance in history?"
"Maybe i'm obsessing."
"Gee you think."

T'ika sat in Gecko's darkened office waiting for the immenent tantrum. It came when Gecko stormed into his office, slamming the door behind him. "Listen you stupid alien bitch, i got three points...for starters, i was nice enough to let you fucking lizzards make a home out of Black Rock! You were supposed to kill Mercer, not fucking wing him! Secondaly, get the fuck out of my chair before i stab you in the god damn eye with my pen! And thirdly, i told you i like fucking lights!"
She didnt flinch. She just laughed and pointed towards the couch behind Gecko. His eyes wer as wide as suaucers when he saw Mercer sitting there and smiling. "Oh...Orland, i thought..."
"I know what you thought." he said in a dry, harsh voice he'd never heard before.
"Wha...what the fuck is this."
The being that looked like Mercer stood up, still smiling, and removed a ring from his finger. In that moment, his faccade of humanity flickered and disappeared, becoming something totally different. A green and amber stiped creature, like a human, but with a snub snout and reptilian skin. He wore silver and gold armor, displaying a tapastry of gold etchings, showing other reptiles like him in various tages of evolution. "Mercer is dead, human. And we're in charge now." the creature grew nearer to Gecko with every passing second, "Now, i have three points. For starters, It's our poragative where we stay now. Secondly, i dont give a damn about your chair or lights. And thirdly..." he tensed a muscle, and a fourteen inch bone blade sprouted from his arm, which he prompt put to Gecko's throat. "Thirdly...i dont need you now."
Before he could do anything, Gecko's face went white with fear. He grabbed his chest and fell to the floor with a thud. C'ata looked unhappy. "Damn. I wanted to kill him."
"The holo-cloaks work perfectly, my love."
"Of course they do. I'll have to have one of the Warriors clean this up." he said kicking Gecko's corpse hard enough to break his ribs, if he wasnt already dead. "Now, where's the human Warrior who killed the fat one? I want to kill someone tonight."
"He'll be by later, for his payment."
"Good i'll kill him then. What of our operation at Black Rock?"
"The Warp Gate is nearly complete, soon we'll have energy to transport the required materials frm C'eia. But i must mention this human fission technology...it's so primitive. It's taking longer than expected to charge up the Gate."

"Just make it happen."

"I'm telling you, something was different about Mercer. It was like...like someone trying to walk around in another person's skin you know, he didnt act like Mercer."
"Kira, your just imagining it. Maybe you actually felt sorry for him. I mean he did have a heart attack...fuck, god damn alien!" Herman said, trying to play a game on his compueter and talk at the same time, and failing at both. Kira was preouccupied thinking about Mercer. It wasnt just his nose, something was wrong with him. She couldnt shake a feeling of repulsion she had the second she saw him again. There was something terribly wrong, something alien, about him. "Hey, remember when we broke into ArmsTech back a few years ago."
"Yes...why?"
"Why...dont we try again."
"No, no, fuck no! The fact that we didnt go to prison was because we were lucky. And juviniles."
"Yeah but we could do it again..." Herman ooked at her, eyes wide, "Your joking. No, not because you think his nose healed to damn fast! Not happening!"
"Look...you've trusted me for four years...well trust me now, something is wrong. All i want is for you to distract them, then i'll head on in. You can hack their computer right?"
"My dog could, but i'm not going to jail."
"Just turn off a few security cameras, and i'll handle the rest, you wont be implicated..."
Herman Vuolo wasnt what you would call a gullible person. But now he was overcome with something. A feeling washed over him, a feeling that as bizzare as it sounded, this was the right thing to do. He'd never figure out what the feeling was, but it's effect wasnt lessened.
"Fine." he said.

This late at night, only a skeleton crew of guards wer still in the ArmsTech building. And Kira.
Herman had burned through the computer systems controlling the security already. He'd told her the exact path he'd created for her, a direct stream of deactivated cameras and unlocked locks. Just like before. Of course, the last time she was caught by one of the guards. But she had a felling that this would be differnet. It was strange to think of it that way, that her feelings could control anything, but that's what semed to repeat through her mind as she stealthily made her way to the elivators, still active to accomodate the guards, got in one and hit the 112th floor.
In the brightly lit confines of the elevator, as opposed to the darkened halls outside, she had a moment to think. What was it she saw so wrong with Mercer. She hated his polocies already, that wasnt it. There was a feeling in the pit of her stomach, like something she couldnt put her finger on but that she knew was there. And then it hit her...literally. A feeling of dread washing over her, misty images of inhuman creatures, blackhearted monsters with reptile skin. It flooded her mind, and she almost collapsed. She felt dizzy, unsteady, leaning against the inside of the elevator. Something was wrong. And now she was positive. She didnt know how, but she knew.
Kira reached the top floor, darting out the elevator and into a broom closet just as two guards rounded the corner. They missed her by seconds. She cursed bitterly; that was too damn close for her. But she had to keep going, to find the truth she knew was out there.

Mercer's office. The light was on, filtering out of the room through the cracked door. She heard talking...not english, something else. Hisses and low growls. But it was talking; two distinct 'voices' saying something to each other. She would've accepted that they were pet snakes, or some kind of exotic animals. But to look in through the tiny crack inthe door and see two humans speaking in that 'language' was simply too bizzare. One looked like Mercer, the other looked like a young blonde woman in a white business suit.
Then, she darted from the door. A six foot statue of Mercer made of bronze stood nearby, and she ducke dbehind it. She saw a man, tall and handsome, with short cropped black hair and green eyes, a scar running down his left cheek. In his jeans and leather jacket he almost looked too normal to be in a corporate fortress in the middle of the night. But what the hell was he dooing here.
He walked into the room and the talking suddenly turned to english. But he semed shocked at what he saw. He screamed an curse, and a femenine voice, obviously the blonde woman, told him to calm down. "Calm the fuck down, fuck that...how is he still alive." the man in the jacket said. "Because...we wanted to have your benefactor here to pay you personally, Mr Daniels."
"He's dead...i stabbed him he's dead!"
"Yes Mercer is dead..."
Kira almost choked. He was dead? Then who was...

"...the C'eian Empire thanks you for yor assistance." the thing that looked like Mercer said. Looking in through the crack of the door, Kira watched in horror as the creatures from her vision came to life. C'ata and T'ika stared down Daniels. Suddenly, as if from thin air, holograms flickered and a warrior appeared before him.
It stood ten feet tall, a hulking monster hidden in plain sight by some slight of hand. Morea crocadile than aman, he still stood liek a man, and in his thick, silver armor he towered over Daniels. It was then that Kira made a mistake. She sceamed.
"What the hell?" C'ata screamed. Suddnely Kira was exposed, Daniels was brandishing his gun, and the Warrior drew his rotary-barreled carbine. "Warrior, kill them both."
"Fuck that!" Daniels screamed fring a shot at the creature's eye, injuring it. He began to make his escape, and dragged the stunned Kira with him. "Come on an run girl!" he screamed as the Warrior exploded through the doorwarm his weapon firing bolts of emerald incandescence, causing miniature explosions where ever they touched. Kira realized that whatever was transpiring she had to live to tell it.
She ran for all she was worth.
Down the halls, towards the Elevators, the Warrior nipping at her heels. She frantically pressed the down button but the thing just wouldnt move fast enough. Finally, he had them cornered. The elevators on one side, his weapon on the other. Daniels fired a three shots...they bounced off the Warrior's armor. It smiled, and drew nearer. It fired a shot and missed, hitting the elevator behind them. It exploded in a huge burst of orange fire, blding the Warrior for a spit second.
Kira ran through it's tree trunk-like legs, grabbing a fire extinguisher that hung on the wall behind the creature. As it turned, she pulled her pocket knife and stabbed into the canister. It luanched from her hand and struck the Warrior square in the chest, sending him flying back, over a ducking Daniels' head, and into the open Elevator shaft. His life was saved by his armor, and that he landed on the roof of the disabled car. "Shoot the god damn cables!" she screamed.
He didnt know why, but Daniels knew what to do.
Daniels emptied his gun blasting the cables apart. And the Warrior was sent screaming down the shaft; his death scream not halting until the car hit the ground below.

Then Daniels felt it too. The cold touch of the future, and the present. He saw himself kill the Warrior just seconds ago, and then he saw himself in a helicopter, skimming the top of a building...
"Helipad..." he said. Kira didnt understand. "Come with me." he said, lunging for a door to Kira's right. He shouldered through it and up the stairs, Kira following. "Where are we going? What were those things?"
"I have no idea." he said, answering two questions with a single sentence. Seconds later they found themselves bursting through the door to the roof's helipad, Mercer's private choper waiting. "There come on."
"You know how to flya helicopter?"
"Best thing that ever happened to me in the Army, little girl, now come on." he shot the lock off the door, and climbed in.
Kira didnt have time to clonk him for calling her a little girl, she just climbed in after him. Seconds later, she was airborne. And about to vomit. She didcovered at that moment what it was like to be afraid of flying, because she discovered she was. Clinging to her seat, she looked behind them...and saw a flicker in the sky.
"What the..." she muttered, mere seconds before two bolts of emerald brilliance lanced out of thin air, missing them by inches. "Wha...they're shooting at us." she screamed. Daniels turned and looked out just as another pair of emerald bolts reached out, this time grazing the right of the chopper. "Holy shit their invisible!" he screamed. He pushed the chopper to it's maximum but the unseen craft stayed mere inche sbehind, firing at them, forcing him to dodge irratically as they sped over the heart of the city. The alien craft followed them every step of the way, hurling it's lances of energy towards them, now at higher intervals.
Daniels swept the chopper down across the roof of a parking complex, and just as the thing began to overtake them, he looked to Kira and said, "When i jump, you ump with me, ok?"
"Jump why...?"
"Trust me."
She did. She knew she could. He pushed open his door, and she swung open hers. he threw the controls back, and leapt out, and she followed a split second later. The helicopter swung upwards sharply and caught the alien craft, causing it to slam into the complex and skin across it like a stone across a lake. It was then that it became visible, a thin bird-shaped ship, or it was, now it was mangled beyond beleif and half burried in a building.
"Come on we have to go, i can hear police sirens already..." Daniels said grabbing her arm and pulling her with him. All Kira could do was wonder what the hell had she just seen. And what she felt...

There are those with a darkness within, clevarly hidden behind a faccade of humanity. It is not the alien or the monsterous that are feared, but these few, truely evil people. Be they human, alien...or otherwise...

SHIT!

That took me while to write out. It's prety long too.

Any way, the next instalment after this, Chapter Three, is comming this Thursday, cause i need a little rest.

A little preview:

Chaper Three-the Shadowmen

This one focuses more on Kylie, Kira's yonger sister. We get to see a lot of insight into her. Also, the cards are falling into place for the C'eian Empire and their plan to destroy mankind...

Try to figure out the signifigance of the begining/end narartion before the end, this chapter and Chapter Three are somewhat important.
