perhaps english isn't his native language. i seem to recall him mentioning something about Germany. . . .or maybe he's just a really shitty speller. he misspells quite alot.

Well Mike's got "Rigid" misspelled in his sig, so I wouldn't hammet that particular point too hard...Master of Ossus wrote:NTM "Strategic." And the grammar makes no sense.Chardok wrote:why is institute misspelled in his sig?

Actually, that's a reference to his college days. IIRC "Ridgid" is actually the name of a company which manufactures tools.Rogue 9 wrote:Well Mike's got "Rigid" misspelled in his sig, so I wouldn't hammet that particular point too hard...

Damn, Mike, this guy is too good not to immortalize on your debates page! If for nothing else than the idiotic manner in which he's revealed his "Institute" for what it really is; him and a bunch of buddies jerking off over their ST stomping SW fantasies.
You should get Phil's permission to use his pic somewhere in the post-mortem.

Perhaps he meant "Hamlet" a point? You know, after reading the debate a couple times, I am starting to wonder if Stewart isn't trying to include the asteroids in the Hoth belt in his atmospheric density argument.

I am also trying to find out about some of his "awards" . He quotes the VNS, to which I cannot find a reference and am unsure of the actual award (my assumption is the Vietnam Service Medal...but I am not certain), though I would like to know what units he was allegedly in when he received these awards. If anyone can pin down the VNS I'd appreciate it. My interest is, as previously pointed out, that of a veteran. I was a 98C (SigInt Analyst) and earned 3 AAMs, 1 ArCom, 2 Good Conducts (whoopdee-doo!), 1 PUC (attached to a unit in Bosnia during the first year) and a NATO ribbon (not to mention National Service and Overseas ribbons). I would personally take offense at someone claiming these awards who never earned them. Anyone remember the Navy Admiral that commited suicide a few years ago over questions regarding the "V" (for Valor) on one of his service ribbons? That's how seriously military personnel take this.
Anyway, interested in any thoughts on this and information anyone can find.

And:The interaction that I cite has nothing to do with the environment, just the asteroid it self is enough to cause the effecxts that are clearly missing from the event as depicted. As I cited before the asteroid debries would have to expand to many millions of kilometers to expand enough to reach the dencity of the upper atmospher little own the dencity of interplanetary space that you cite.
Now I am completely unscientific, I know fuck-all about science and am nowhere near qualified to even begin any of the computations I have read here...that said, I can STILL UNDERSTAND the what everyone, Darth Wong in particular, has said to Stewart. Not being scientifically oriented, my first read of the quoted passages led me to interpret them that way.The dencity of matter in that field is many orders of magnatude higher than the density of interplanetary space as evidenced by the many asteroids very close together as depicted in the film.

It's OBVIOUSLY a sprwling underground (Veritable) metropolis of technology and supercomputers. They employ super-secret black helicopter brigades, and having a website would defeat their SUPER SECRET purpose of solving the "Insolvable". It must remain a SUPER SECRET. Yellow pages? Bah! OBVIOUSLY they are in the BLACK pages. Don't be so naive, Grand Admiral!

This is allready going past pathetic to the area of sad. He claims to be a goddamn expert and now he claims he will talk with other "experts" before answering? Yeah, he will propably convene with Jack and Marty, his fellow SDI "analysts" while drinking some lemonade and discussing how hot Julia Roberts is
Yes Stewart ,by all means constult your other "experts" and then come back. Perhaps those other "experts" can tell you the difference between a nuclear detonation in an athmosphere and in space.

he's stated that his so-called degree is just in general science, which is laughable at best, as that means he's not an expert in any field whatsoever, but rather a generalist. if he even has that much.

Well, of course he's trying to pretend it had something to do with Reagan's SDI. When he knew he couldn't pull that off, he decided to pretend it was a "think tank" which gets paid handsomely by a few "select clients", but which somehow can't afford an $80 scanner.

I am an expert in many things, but I do not have a degree that anyone here takes seriously. Everyone here ignores my points as if they are some how less valid because of my lack of degrees related to Physics. Therefore I have contacted a couple of internationaly known Astro-Physisists for their oppinions. Their responces will be posted in full.He claims to be a goddamn expert and now he claims he will talk with other "experts" before answering? Yeah, he will propably convene with Jack and Marty, his fellow SDI "analysts" while drinking some lemonade and discussing how hot Julia Roberts is
Yes Stewart ,by all means constult your other "experts" and then come back. Perhaps those other "experts" can tell you the difference between a nuclear detonation in an athmosphere and in space.
The detonation that I was refering to was possably the "Starfish" shot at an altitude of either 400 kilometers or 400 miles. IIRC the latter. In either case it was far beyond what is concidered to be the conventional atmosphere at a local dencity of 1^-11-12 kilograms/meter^3. Since this dencity is almost exactly centered within the normaly accepted range of interplanetary space values, from 1^-9 to -15 OoM, I think it is a valid comparison. However, Mikes failure to address this range of values and subsiquent dirersion have made outside consultation neccessary.
Other parts of this thred are responces to other posters attacks based on remarks that I have made. I am not a computer wiz nor am I familiar with the "on line" etiquette involved in debates like this. In my naivete, I origionaly thought that this was going to be a fair and ballenced debate. Shame on me for not checking with the Computer Nerds and learning all the rules first, before joining this debate. But thats OK as I am a big boy and have learned to take it. I wonder if the rest of you are too.
Again, I am prepaired to answer any reasonable question put to me, in order to gain some sembelance of pairity in this forum.
Sincerely, Stewart.
