Didn't Jade lose her powers?

Jade regained her innate Power Pulse powers a few issues ago - somewhere around issue #148/149.

And the old style Green Lantern Corps Power Rings could be controlled from a distance and weren't taken off at night anyhow. Kyle takes his off because he's worried his Ring will pick up his dreams and create his nightmares into the real world while he's asleep.

Which just goes to show that even with the yellow weakness and the 24 hour time limit, those old Power Rings are *still* superior to Kyle's model...

Yes - and Jade is still being written as being incompetent even though she's been in the superhero trade notably longer than Kyle has... god dammit, I hate it when characters are other killed off or written badly just to make shmuck boy look good ... gah!

I just read that ABC is looking into getting the producers behind Birds of Prey to do a show about DC Comic's Starman.

If this is to be based on the most recent comic version it could be pretty good.

So you agree it could be a good idea for a show? :D

ABC though? I'm not sure if that's a good fit.

Who's Starman? I'm not gonna judge whether or not it's gonna be a good idea for a TV series since I've never seen the comic, but why would they choose such an obscure character? Wouldn't it make more sense to make a superhero show out of a hero people actually know?

Not always. Certainly most of the characters on Birds of Prey aren't well known by the general populace. Blade (a Marvel character) wasn't well known and the two movies have done pretty well.

I think part of the reason they might be thinking about Starman is because it was a critically acclaimed book rather recently. If they go with the version I am thinking of anyway.

The character doesn't have real powers and is a bit of a reluctant hero but he has an "staff" that can channel cosmic energy. It allows him to fly and shoot energy bolts.

When I last read the book it certainly had a unique feel to it.

Also, with a well known character there are so many expectations by fans of what it has to be. It is much harder to be creative and original while still keeping the core of the character because everyone who knows it wants the character a certain way, even if that wouldn't look good on tv.

Now the only question is if they'll finish the season or even put out any new episodes. The last I heard it was still being debated whether they'd add a few more episodes.

It's funny, but I find this show more enjoyable than Mutant X and it's still around. I suppose that's the difference between syndication and prime time. :?

Last I hear, this morning on Scifi.com, they are sticking with the original 13 episode order and will let those play out.

It got a shitty time slot, against a rebirth of Twilight Zone. Who cares if the episodes suck, everyone watches TZ. It has famous people in it.

However, they announced today that Angel is taking over that slot.

Well, Joss seems to think it's ok since they ordered two more episodes.

No, that's a sign that it is the end of sweeps. It's also "holiday season" when they scrap good stuff for shit.

I heard that some more scripts were ordered as well.

Oh and they are giving it more of a chance because of baseball and lack of advertising.

I wasn't interested in Birds of Prey because I am a big fan of Batman. Something about the show seemed like it didn't hold true to the Batman experience. This is a sure sign that I take my Batman experience too seriously.

I mean, for instance, take her meta-human powers. Batman is the most awesome superhero partially because he doesn't have any superpowers. When faced with three White Martians, each individually on par with a Kryptonian, he still manages to take them out by out-smarting them.

So a lot of the appeal is lost there. I think that if it had to be made I wish they made it good.

I would actually like to see a storyline around Talia's and Batman's son that I actually like.

What is the Crises on Infinity Earths that everyone keeps mentioning?

The Crisis on Infinite Earths, or simply, the Crisis, was DCs response to Marve's Secret Wars and also their decision, after four decades, to clean house on all the parallel universes and parallel heroes which had built up as their way of blowing off the need to update the comic book continuities every decade. For example: Batman in the 30s/40s was Earth-2. The pantheon of Ace comics heroes which DC inherited the rights to resided on Earth-3. The concept encompassed all the Superman What If stories. By the mid-80s, it had become as convoluted a mess as Star Trek time travel. So every DC book carried the serial storyline of a universe-wide war which had the effect of "collapsing" every parallel reality while the main superheroes strove to prevent the same happening to "our" universe. It was in this epic that the original Supergirl, Kara Zor El, died. The Superman issue featured either a cover or a splash panel of a grieving, enraged Man of Steel holding her dead body cradled in his arms.

From Crisis onward, all DC continuity was supposed to be reordered into one smooth line. Unfortunately, the mess is starting to build up again with the Elseworlds books.
