Although in fairness the other thread title is pretty vague.

The other title is "another stupid person". How exactly was he going to know? This is why people need to make thread titles that actually describe what is in the thread instead of titles like "stupid people" or something like that.

Searching OTF for the word "spider" in the last day would do it.

This man would have been much better off with a dog. Love, companionship, loyalty, and no killing and eating you.

This will make me sound like a jerk, but I find it to be kind of funny, in a morbid sort of way...

That is why you dont keep TINY thngs that can kill you, but rather LARGE things that can kill you. Like monitor lizards, or small caimans. You know when they are pissed off.

Why would you want to keep anything that can kill you?

Dogs and cats make great pets. They are affectionate and loyal (yes even cats), they are smart enough to recognize you as the master and provider, and smart enough to have individual personalities that make them interesting company.

Deadly creatures, on the other hand, that lack much brainpower, and operate mostly on instinct, and which are therefore not smart enough to regard you as anything other than potential prey, or a potential threat, are something I can't unserstand why anyone would want to keep around.

As I said in the other thread on this, black widow bites are fatal in adults only in exceedingly rare cases, and geckos and tarantulas do not scavenge corpses to my knowledge.
Something strange happened here, and the guy could have had an allergic reaction to the spider bite, but this story's giving off the unmistakeable aroma of Mierdo del Torro as far as I'm concerned.

Could be. Still doens't change my point about keeping mindless, dangerous creatures though. I still can't understand why anyone would want to.

I have a Savannah Monitor lizard. He will never grow large enough to kill me. Considerable damage yes, but not death. He knows who I am, and attacks me less vigorously than he attacks his food, and I am fine with that.

A monitor lizard, if handled properly and if you get a calm individual, can be made as tame and trustworthy as a dog.... I go one of the hyperaggrssive ones though....

I still enjoy having him around though, I suppose it is a fascination with the species of animal than anything... That and I have raised him from a hatchling.

Well, if you are drunk and stupid a water monitor can take you out.... And a caiman... again, drunk and stupid.

Not exacltly, cats recognise you as a resident in their house. You just feed them and such.

I don't know, my cat is devoted to me. When I get home from university after a long time away she tries to tackle me, and follows me around the whole time I'm home.

I've always wanted a monitor. They're so fucking cool. I just love the shape of their head, it's so much like a theropod.

I want to stand over the tank and give speeches about how much the little mouse displeases me. The mouse will then beg for its life by assuring me it won't happen again. I will then say "You're right, it won't!" and drop it in!

I used to do that with the crickets when I had a gecko.

I'd make a comment about his idiocy or something, but then I realize my plans to make a super dangerous feral chicken will probably end poorly for me.
