What's your favorite SW War Droid?
I like the Mandalorian Basilisk Droid best. It's able to fly through space and atmospheres, armed with an assortment of powerful weapons, functioned directly as an extension of it's rider's body, tough to kill, and could attack physically. What's not to like?

Holy shit, the Empire really should get of it's ass and start making those vipers in massive numbers and just release them on Yuuzhan Vong worlds for the fun of it.Connor MacLeod wrote:Viper Automadons. Blasters are comparable to capital-grade turbolasers, molecular shielding make them nearly invulnerable, and I'm willing to bet they also incorporate point of impact deflectors and self healing metals.
My second would probably be the YVH droids.
Hell, capital-grade turbolasers? Thats a minimum of kiloton level firepower there, and they can probably take it in return too.
As for the YVH's, their arm blasters pretty kickass, can destroy a coral-skipper with a fullpowered shot, that could be near Kiloton level firepower there too, or atleast in the hundreds of gigajoules.

Off-Topic: HDS: Now you see why I thought the X-1 Viper's would kick the Space Marine's ass.
On-Topic: I liked those droidekas pretty well. They're a solid second choice.
Connor Macleod: I didn't see anything about point of impact deflectors and self-healing metals in their entry, but who knows? Maybe they do.

Viper followed by the XR-85. Since the Viper's already been covered..
Length: 32 meters
Height: 30 meters
Armament:
One Turreted Heavy Particle Cannon
Two Forward Light Turbolasers
Four Twin Heavy Repeating Blasters
1 Aft Golan Arms DF.9
Max speed is 70kph and the treads would make ofr a very stable firing platform. It can also ford water up to 15 meters deep.

They probably couldn't defeat Titans (maybe) but Space Marines would be toast.
Speaking of Titans, we'll just sic World Devastators after them. They're basically just huge droids anyway (the WD's, I mean.)

I don't believe that a single Viper would have any real chance against a Titan, but possibly a whole swarm of Vipers surrounding the Titan and nibbling away at it.
There is also many projectile weapons in use by 40k forces that the Viper isn't able to cope with as well.

I like the idea behind the SEP1 bodyguard droid, but I also like the R6 and R7, the LE series maintenance droid, and the Mouse Droid, which while technically worthless is kind of a funny idea. Honorable mentions go to Em-Kay, from X-Wing: Alliance and, of course, R2-D2. All of those are very good ideas, and worked quite well in the books and movies in which they were presented.
