Could an ISD capture the Enterprise?
I'm a Newbie, sorry if this is already posted.
We've beaten the Fed-capture-ISD idea to death. How about reversing it?
Could an ISD capture the Enterprise? How?
Assume both ships are at full combat readiness at start (full manuverablility, etc...)
BTW, No Disintigrations! Capture the ship as fully intact as possible.

If not then the things will cause major problems to the ship. The computer's themselve still seem to run on normal electricity.Dave wrote:U sure Ion cannons work on ST ships? they use plasma conduits (or so I heard) and ions are the same thing as plasma
Ion cannons may even overload the structural Intergity fields

The ion cannons would probably destroy the ST ship. I see ST ship exploding due to overloaded plasma conduits.Dave wrote:U sure Ion cannons work on ST ships? they use plasma conduits (or so I heard) and ions are the same thing as plasma

They use energized plasma for some things, but the great hails of sparks that fly out of the bridge consoles and other such things indicates that electricity is being used for many things. However Star Wars Ion cannons, games to the contrary, do cause physical damage and have completely destroyed and broken up Star Wars warships, if the Enterprise was hit by them it might well be destroyed outright, espically if the damage and disruption leads to a warp core breech.Dave wrote:U sure Ion cannons work on ST ships? they use plasma conduits (or so I heard) and ions are the same thing as plasma

IIRC, the Light turbo lasers used for point defense, are in the low MT range. Engage the Enterprise with the LTL until the shields are pummeled and then engage the tractor beam.
Hell, engage the tractor beam first to prevent any unforseen escapes, then pummle it with the LTL's. Then send in the guys in white armor.
The trick here is not if the SD can catch the Enterprise but rather how much restraint is needed not to destroy the thing while you're capturing it.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Bring its shields down with low-yield torpedoes from TIE Bombers and then send boarding craft over. Stormtroopers will make short work of crewers in their pajamas.

The ISD could probably just ask to send an "ambassador" over to the ship by shuttlecraft. The ambassador would be a Stormtrooper platoon with gas and wardriods.EmperorMing wrote:Knowing how curious the Feddies are it is too likely they get captured...

You could probably prevent it with less damage than that by putting one team in directly on the bridge (which is in a nice, obvious, exposed location) and another on the secondary hull where the power readings are strongest to fight their way to the warp core. Anyone know if crew members other than senior officers can initiate a self-destruct?

OK, you have no interdictor cruiser, so you can't keep it from going to warp. This is going to make it difficult to capture unless you drop out of hyperspace and then immediately grab it in a tractor beam, so I think that has to be the only option for your opening move.
Then, take a cue from Commander Kruge ("target engines only") and target one of the warp nacelles with light turbolaser fire. There is always the risk that the ship will explode from this damage, but that is simply unavoidable; any Federation ship has a risk of being destroyed by minor damage, but it seems to be SOP in Star Trek to try and disable enemy ships by firing at their engines.
Once you bring down a warp nacelle, they will be severely crippled, both in terms of propulsion and power generation (damage to the warp nacelles will probably force them to shut down or eject the warp core). At that point, send over assault shuttles, breach the hull, and begin sending men into the ship. Watch Nemesis and ANH back-to-back, and you will see how much of a cakewalk the rest of the operation should be.
Alternative, it might be worthwhile to demand their surrender. Offer the safe passage of their crew, and mean it (in case they have a Betazed on board), if the captain turns over his ship intact. Make it clear to him that any and all survivors will be tortured slowly to death if he self-destructs the ship.
