Heh, to be honest, I thought she looked a little younger in those ads...
Random fact: the guy in those Verison ads (Brian Baker) is married to Terry Farrell.
I hate those fucking Bod ads, too, because the only fucking place I see them are at the cinema...

It's the exact opposite for me. I'd rather see them on TV, as I don't go to the cinema to see television advertisements, especially those two.

Ah, the unfortunate reality of American television. Funded 100% by oversealous, greedy corporate entities doing everything in their power to hook the gullible and easily seduced for products they neither want nor need.
I'd like to say I knew your pain, but not even Sky One and its copycat style of American channels can compare to what I have seen of US stations. This is what makes the BBC worth the cash to those naysayers.

I'm not the only old fart on the board.
I don't think McD's is aiming at the Black consumer so much as at the white suburban teenage wannabe who thinks rap is so 'real'.DPDarkPrimus wrote:The corporations are conspiring against the white man.... Dr Pepper wants to be the official drink of Latinos, and now McDonalds wants to be the official eatery of African-Americans... what's next, Slicht's becoming the official drink of Native Americans?
It's a marketing change in that before, a lot of the ads were really aimed at children. Think about it, how many times have you seen Mom & Dad reluctantly dragged into McD's by their rugrats who watch way too much TV?
I've had McD's perhaps 3-5 times in the last decade and it was awful, even by the standards of fast food, every time. The only time I go to McD's is if I'm with a group that I can't talk out of it.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

That's a good point. Adults have always hated McDonald's at worst, or tolerated its food quality at best. No adult actually raves about how he likes McDonald's food (OK, I actually knew one in university, but she was nuts).Glocksman wrote:It's a marketing change in that before, a lot of the ads were really aimed at children. McDonald's success, at least during the last 20 years, has been in marketing themselves to children with Ronald McDonald, the Hamburglar, the big purple guy, and other assorted cartoony characters. Not to mention the Happy Meal.
Their attempt to appeal to "hip" teens is utterly insane. It will never be "hip" to go to McDonald's.

There's a lot of teens that seem to disagree with this in my city, of course, these guys also wear tracksuit bottoms and hoodies and smoke all day near a children's park area instead of going to school or getting a job.Darth Wong wrote:That's a good point. Back when I went to church, I recall one of my pastor's telling about how they used to do the "Catholic test": You took a girl out to McDonald's on Friday. If she ordered the fish sandwich, she was "one of them".

Up here in Canada, we don't have the horrible screaming rat-demons. We have just one horrible screaming rat-demon, and that's Don Cherry (yes, he does the Quiznos ads up here).

As an aside, we used to often get fish from Burger King on Fridays during Lent to take advantage of the fact that they were on sale.DPDarkPrimus wrote:Back when I went to church, I recall one of my pastor's telling about how they used to do the "Catholic test": You took a girl out to McDonald's on Friday.
