Michael Moore at the Oscars

Post by Joe »

HAHA! Did anyone just catch that? I gotta say, my respect for him just went up a few notches.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

There was an extended opening sequence that featured a bunch of footage from nominated movies with Billy Crystal in it. At one point they flashed to the Battle of Pelennor Fields from RoTK, and they had Michael Moore saying something like "Shame on you hobits! Shame on you! Stop this war!" And then he got stepped on by an oliphaunt.

I wonder if the oliphaunt represent Republican pundits or ABC for its delay while broadcasting the Oscars.

Probably both.

In any case, this sort of statment I approve of. Gets the political point across while staying relevant to the venue.

I missed it, but it sounds hilarious, plus makes a statement without getting away from the theme. Crystal is taking a few swats, but is staying light and cute,, as is his style. Plus Robbins got up and only when as far as commenting on people who have suffered abuse as children.

Maybe they know it only sounds schrew now. Better to play nice, like the candidates and act to help Kerry (or Edwards) look better.

It's interesting that the Errol Morris made a statement similar to Moore's speech (although far more subdued) and he got a rousing applause. I think it shows how somber people have gotten in the past year.

He restrained himself. Maybe when he realized that millions didn't actually die in Vietnam.

Good lord Peter Jackson looks quite disheveled. Looks a bit out of place.

As an aside: did Disney really just finish Destino after all these years? :?

Sean Penn = classless ass.

Fuck you Sean. You are an actor, you know acting, not geopolitics. Stick to what you know.
