Back up your claims.

If you're thinking of that one Angel that was killed by gunfire through its AT Field, Its Field was extremely weak, and it was the weakest Angel in the entire series.

Well, yeah. The AT field is very important as a symbolic plot device.

This from the Evangelion 'Compendium' :D
IMPACT

A term which refers to massive, world-shaking cataclysms which completely change the course of life on the planet - sort of like Spice Girls album release dates, but without as much widespread suffering. First Impact was a blazillion years ago and involved amoebas who manipulated religious symbols to evolve into humans (or something like that). Second Impact was, according to Big Brother, a big Tunguska-like meteor which struck at near light-speed in Antarctica, releasing an enormous amount of kinetic energy and melting the entire Antarctic continent, which made Kevin Costner's movie-making pretensions almost valid. Actually, Second Impact was caused by more of that rascal Gendo's dirty deeds. Third Impact transpired during episode 25 of the Evangelion series, and involved spectacular events that were too expensive to animate.

What's the White Cross book?

Oh and I've seen Evangelion and think that I understand most of it. The only thing that I don't get is how if only a select number of people can be pilots, that they don't strike unless they get paid a huge amount of money. I mean I would ask for my own fricking mansion with a bunch of servants and shit. That and if I was piloting the most powerful weapon in the world(pretty much) I would be demanding a huge salary or else I would go Godzilla on their asses.
Well, that's basically factoered in. Asuka's so obsessed with proving she's the best she'd work for free. Shinji's so desperate for his father to approve of him, or even aknowledge his existance that he'd do almost anything he's ordered to. Rei has blind faith in commander Ikari, and would do anything he ordered her to.
He means the Red Cross Book; the unofficial name for the End of Evangelion program that was sold when the film premired in Japan.

If you strike, they'll just fire/kill you and find another pilot. Good Eva pilots are hard to find, so they force them to do it.

IIRC, everyone in Shinji's class is a potential EVA pilot. They have quite a few backups, I should say.

Only the EVAs can generate an AT field. What do you think was protecting the Third angel from all those guns and missiles, and the N-2 mine? Its green, rubbery skin?

It is also about SEELE holding all of the power and the Evas.

Spoiler The incident with the robot "Jet Alone" shows that people don't want any body to interfere with their plans.

Well, it'd be nice to see something other than an Eva triumph over the Angels. Ya know create some tension and stuff.

There has been tension.

Like when Shinji got trapped in the Sea of Dirak.

Or the fight agaist Zeruel.

Besides, everything is an elaborate plot of SEELE's, going the way that's forseen.

SEELE's goal was the completion of the Human Instrumentality Project: to make all of humanity into a single perfect being.

That's not anything like domination.

And yes, Jet Alone r0x0r3[).

Yes yes I know the really strange AT fields acting like subspace and making people go splat. I guess ol' Jets reminds me a really tall Hygog from Gundam.

Actually, the conversion into LCL was possible because of the removal of everyone's AT Field.

For some reason, that whole segment kind of bothered me. I thought it was sort of disturbing.

Especially since I've had the song that plays during that sequence for several years, wondering what part of the film it played during.

*shudder*

The only angel to be killed through it's AT field was Ramiel, and he was hardly the weakest.

Israfel was damaged through it's AT field (they burned off almost 30% of its mass.. one wonders why they didn't just hit it a couple more times).

Sachiel was also damaged through the AT field and hand to regenerate for several hours before renewing its attack.

Material was the weakest of the bunch in that it was the only one that stupid pallete rifle had any effect on :)

What, watching characters that you had spent an entire series with turn into red-orange goop disturbed you? Why ever might that be? :)

I post again the red cross book stuff :

http://www.geocities.com/ferio2012/Rcb-i.htm

And AT fields are generated even by humans, it is a representation of souls. They have different degrees of power and are used to both attack and defend.
Plus there is not sense of the use of more powerful weapons, etc. They used the weapons they could use and they did not wanted to destroy the city bellow also.
Plus, SPOILER ,
The eva had to fight with the angel, since it is Gendo plans the prepare the evas and then to created to perfect and unique thing. Its a plot device. Valid in my opinion...
Plus, its not only the matter of how little pilots could drive a eva, it is a matter of how few evas they had.
Muffin is food. Food is good. I am a Muffin. I am good.
