That leads you back to his point, you realize. The next question is why? Or would it be why not? Yeah, I think it would.

You mean his point which contained a serious logical fallacy of equating people to ideas, which I pointed out already but you apparently ignored?

No, but most people don't like it when you're a total asshole, either.

When people are arguing about whether somebody was being an asshole by doing something, it contributes precisely JACK SHIT to simply take one side without explaining yourself. Why don't you try making an intelligent contribution for a fucking change?

Yes, you said he didn't really do anything wrong. Now you're implying that he's a "total asshole". Which is it, and why?

Being an ass at a movie isn't protected, though.
There is no law that I am aware of that says "Right to protection from assholes." anywhere in the bill of rights or the constitution, but there are court cases which set precedent which explicitly do NOT allow assault and battery, however.

It doesn't matter if they are the grand master assholes of the world. That does not give you the right to inflict, or TRY to inflict bodily harm on someone. Even the threat is illegal.

If that kid did not go around jumping in the face of the people, screaming out loud, or hitting people, he did nothing wrong as it was not agaist the rules to wear a costume to the movies. Even if it WERE illegal..which is a JOKE rule in itself, they still would not hav the right to do squat to him physically. He could be removed, but even that can be fought, since they cannot deem HIS costume offensive without saying anyone's constume is offensive.

This goes back to freedom of religion. Satanism is its own religion and is also part of another religion. If you bann someone dressing up as satan, you have to bann someone dressing up as god or jesus, or mother theresa, or ANY religious figure. Hell, I could say the freaking Pope is offensive.

I said that I thought he didn't do anything wrong to deserve getting pelted with candy and a soda poured over him, but that he shouldn't have worn the costume only to incite other patrons.

If I didn't make that clear in the thread, it is my fault and I apologise.

Ah, OK. The term "total asshole" implied more of a dramatic shift in your opinion than was apparently intended, then.

There's a difference between throwing a drink on somebody who's just being a disruptive ass (which he said he was going to the movie to do) and throwing a drink on somebody who has an electrical device centimeters from his head.
So if you actually go out of your way and purchase electronic devices to be a disruptive ass, this is somehow nicer than being a disruptive ass just by sitting there wearing a costume that in no way impedes the flow of the movie?

I sometimes wear cologne to seek a reaction. I openly admit this - so by your logic, I deserve to be stoned to death with Starbursts.

A bullet in the head is also a reaction. It's a rather broad term, isn't it?

"I wore this costume because I wanted to cause a reaction: I wanted my personal rights to be completely violated", now that would be a justification, don't you think?

Unless he had a devil costume lying around, he probably spent between thirty and fifty bucks to rent or buy the costume, plus about fifteen for ticket and concessions. Spending that much money to make a statement about a movie you don't even like is not "passive."
Yes it is.

No, first you have to make sure a vampire (or other "occult") movie is playing on your TV, then you have to start with small candy. If they are still there, then and only then should you pour the drink. Then you can complain about the JW deliberately being assholes by bothering you while you are having a personal (anti-)religious experience...

... Oh, did I forget to it mention? It's only a freaking movie.

What's the difference between this and wearing an Emperor Palpatine costume to a screening of Star Wars?
plus about fifteen for ticket and concessions
Come on. Does nobody go to matinee shows any more? And whatever happened to the fine art of smuggling your own shit in?

I wouldn't. It would be a waste of a good drink. Maybe throw nacho cheese at him. :P

If somebody purposely dumped a drink on me, I would dump mine right back onto her. I don't care if she's 60 years old or whatever.
