First Contact between Empire and UFP

Post by BlkbrryTheGreat »

To quote Mike from another thread:
I would tend to think that their first exposure to a GCS would involve them either blowing it up, negotiating with it, or seeing it warp away for its life.
Senario: A random ISD get ssucked up by some wierd phenomena and get thrown into Federation Space. They are immediately encounted by a GCS. The captain and bridge crew are human. How is the inital encounter most likely to proceed?
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

Depends. Do the Imperials know what happened and the fact that they're in another galaxy (if not exactly which galaxy)? Are they stranded, or can they get back? Although a single ISD could wreck havoc all through the galaxy on raids if it cared to do so, there would be little advantage, since it has to run out of fuel and spare parts eventually. If the captain's smart he'll realize this and come to the conclusion that, inferior tech or not, he's going to need the local powers and he's in no position to bend them to his will with a single ship. So it depends on:

1.) Whether the Imperials are stranded
2.) Whether they know if they're stranded or not
3.) How smart and/or arrogant the captain is

It all depends on the quality of the Captain. A veteran commander will handle things far diffrently from one commanded by some Moffs kid, or worse yet someone like Daala who fucked their way to authority. All of Rouge 9's points hold water as well.

Imps play cool until they can figure out the short and long term situation.

If they can get back to Imperial space, the outcome is a no-brainer.

And if they can't get back to home space, joining the Feddies would be the most logical choice.

Is the Rebellion still going on? I could see the ISD seeing this as a Rebellion starship if any aliens appear in the background of the tele-conference.

Not necessarily, or at least not from this alone. I don't think they would consider it to have any significant military strength, and would likely assume it to be an privately owned oversized yacht. (There are private organizations larger than the entire UFP, so the size of the ship is not significant in this case, even if it would be by UFP standards.) Failure to provide any credible identification might evoke that reaction, however.

Of course, the Imperials would likely know they aren't even in the same galaxy very soon after trying to determine their new coordinates (comparing locations of other galaxies, for example). Once the Imperials become aware of this, they'll realize that they are the intruders.

Further, they don't know the full strength of nearby civilizations (or the strength of the GCS relative to other UFP ships; could be a light in-system scout or civilian ship for all they know at this point), so ticking off the unknown won't be wise.

Wouldn't it be kinda big, even for a scout?

It would be, and i doubt the Imps would believe that someone has such a powerful fleet that a scout is the size of a GCS....
