All of her young were dead and she went down in a ball of flame. Granted the wizard died with her but I wouldn't even call that a Pyrrhic victory since the majority of the "good guys" survived.

I discovered long ago that TV is shit, and if there's anything worth watching on it you'll find a much higher quality variant at the video store eg. Babylon 5 on TV was a late night hodge podge of media time slot juggling and rank and file disregard of sci-fi (a thanks and cheery "fuck you!" to channel 9...), while at the video store you can pick and choose which tapes to rent.

Same goes with movies. On TV you're bound to find one or two scenes that have been cut or censored by the oversensitive fundies - some of Eddie Murphey's Beverley Hills Cop films had this shit inflicted upon them, incredibly, as did the Blue Brothers (it's a crime to say "motherfucker!" on TV, even if you show the film late at night and with proper ratings guide). End result? :finger: to TV in general and :finger: to the people who do the censorship.

Can I ask what the ending you saw entailed? I want to know how it was different.

That reminds me. How could we forget the animated verison of The Hobbit? Poor Smaug gets shot down after trying to track down the people who robbed him.

There should be at least two scenes after that part. One with Bruce and his family and then one with Bruce and SLJ.

That is fucking criminal. After Bruce Willis totals the home invader, it just ends? What the fuck did those bitch-arse motherfucking camwhores TV execs think they were doing?

*takes a deep breath*

Are you sure that it ended there? Not to disparage you or anything, but I mean was it literally ended right then and there? As in, home invader gets the chop and suddenly it's the credits rolling? Dammit all the way to fucking hades, if so you just missed out on one of the best conclusions ever! And I fucking spoilt it for you too.  :( <--- *conflicting emotions*

Rent it. It's worth watching just for the end. :)

Incorrect. In the end, the bad guys say "he got away" before they start torturing him, and look very disappointed :)
In the shit alternate ending, yes. Studio butchered Gilliam's work.
Incorrect again. In the director's cut, he dreams the whole thing and ends like a vegetal, but the bad guys say "he got away" anyway, and look very disappointed. So the bad guys don't win (since they were looking forward to torturing him)

I construed it as a bad ending given he dreamt the whole escape anyway and was, as you say, a vegetable. Not quite a clear cut win.

Well, if the bad guys say he win then one would think that is the case

EDIT: He was smiling too. I think he was happy.

Well, there was this TV show I saw a little over three years ago about a group of fundie idiots who wanted to seize control of a superpower's government, divert government funds to their religious agenda, oppress certain minorities, and start modifying the laws and tax codes to handsomely reward themselves and all of their wealthy friends.

I think it was on CNN.

There was a CG animated series of Transformers: Beast Wars, distributed or made by Animax where at the end Cybertron (or what the name of the bad guy was) wins and assimilates/or defeats the gud guys (Optimus Prime - a gorilla, a rat guy, a leopard ....). I might screw things up a little, as I'm not very familliar with this universe, but that's the best I remember now.

Screamers, where the evil mechanical teddybear makes it back to Earth.

Blade 2, Nomack killed his father and sister, gaining revenge, his later death doesn't change the fact that he met his objective, and the fact that he shoved the sword deeper into himself supports the idea that he felt he accomplished his mission.

I'm also thinking the bad guys mostly won in Dr. Shivago.
That's Dr. Zhivago, with a 'z' my friend.
That is depending on the language you're in :D
In German, it is spelled "Dr. Shiwago", as that spelling is in German the closest to the way it actually sounds in Russian :D

As for Bad Guys winning, I'm not sure if it fits, but "The Bridge of the River Kwai" had a very unfair ending :)
