It may LOOK cool, but it is grossly overrated.

Amazingly, I took Fighter levels and have a buttload of HP. I don't think Dead Magic is gonna slow me down much.lazerus wrote:That's why I put up with the level loss that comes with being a fighter/wizard.I am in deep shit if I run into one of those anyway.

I plan to "intimidate" my way out of most dead-magic zones. As of next level up (when I finish maxing out that skill), I will have a +29 modifier in intimidate.

What me?
Right, people seemed to be confused as to the nature of our current location. I have the description of the complex here and will post the relevant passages.
Hmm. Reading back on what I just did, you may be right, Alyrium. I'll let Tycho run with it if he will, though. It is, after all, his campaign.

Okay, that should be sufficient to give you an idea of the defenses and guards. There's only one gate, so lets do try not to make up stuff where it doesn't exist, mmkay?Magic of Faerun wrote:The temple complex is easily the most imposing structure in its area of the city. Its granite outer wall rises 50 feet above the narrow, cobbled street below, affording a strategically lofty view for the guards who continually patrol its length. The walls, whitewashed to make the place easily identifiable even at a distance, enclose a broad courtyard paved with flagstones. Within the courtyard are the abbey's buildings. The largest structures within are the abbey itself and the cathedral, but nearby are several smaller outbuildings, including stables, granary, soldiers' barracks, and well house.
<snip>
The abbey is defended by a company of well trained soldiers sworn to the service of Tyr. They patrol the walls and stand watch in the gatehouse, day and night. Supporting them are a small contingent of templars (paladins, monks, and more experienced fighters) who also help guard the abbey's most important internal areas. The clerics who dwell here are not in the least averse to utilizing divination magic to determine the identity and alignment of unknown visitors, and the guards use a system of passwords and recognition signs to identify intruders. They permit Ty's worshipers and those wiht legitimate business to enter freely, but tolerate no intrusion by other folk on the orders of the High Lord Abbot.

If the DM has complained, will change, would like to at least see transcript of GM's complaints first(will dropping a monk level and adding a fighter level get me out of this, or should I just turn Lawful Good for reduced paperwork?). How sabotaging my ability to do certain things is horribly bad, I'm not quite sure.

The problem is that I'm playing a paladin. A non-fallen one. You know, the whole can't associate with evil characters bit? And I was in first, so hah.consequences wrote:Apologies, I thought its prior use was understood, will specify.Rogue 9 wrote:I do notice the helm of opposite alignment. Simple solution: I state that I am under a curse caused by an item that makes me detect as evil(its even true, just not complete). Since my character has an easier time fighting evil, that's what he does, he's just not nearly as considerate of colatteral damage as everyone else.
Or I could just go LG, its just the image of someone using 'Holy Word' and being instantly deafened cracks me up(not the best rationale for designing a character, I know). Give me an official ruling on what specific change I need to make, and I will.
In any case, a correctly run CN character should actually cause a Paladin more conniptions than a LE one

No, not really on the last bit. A paladin's lawful bent comes from following a code, not from any particular desire to uphold law. Evil is the paladin's primary concern.
And first casting of Holy Word would kill yourself, wouldn't it?

Ok, consequences, you are a half celestial, no? Then you must be Good. If you put on a helm of opposite alignment, you lose all your celestial spells/spell like abilities, etc, but not statistics adjustments. If you were chaotic good before putting on the helm, you cannot be a monk, or else you will simply lose all your monk abilities. Either change your alignment or change your class.

Oh, DM. How much EXP should I give my followers?
--
It was 100 of them vs 200 guards, but then there were some wizards........
--
Or should I just place them halfway past next level like the rest of the party?
