Bitmaps and jpegs and... help

I think I have to change some setting on my pc, but I don't know how. I am trying to add some animated gifs from some websites to my website, but when I "save target as" it only allows me to save as a bmp. I cannot use bitmaps on my site. Anyone know how I can change this?
