Los Angeles Sightseeing Tips

Post by Phantasee »

So I'm going to Los Angeles tomorrow, and I was wondering what I should go and see besides DisneyLand and Universal Studios.

And this is for the rest of you not already in California: :P

You could start with the exotically colored air.

Any city gets what it admires, will pay for, and, ultimately, deserves…We want and deserve tin-can architecture in a tinhorn culture. And we will probably be judged not by the monuments we build but by those we have destroyed.--Ada Louise Huxtable, "Farewell to Penn Station", New York Times editorial, 30 October 1963

Ah, smog.

Sunsets look beautiful though.

Find a bunch of people wearing colered bandanas. Say "Yo Yo Hommie G" and slap one of them on the back. Trust me, you make heaps of friends liek that.

Venice Beach, odd bunch down there but its a hoot to sit and watch the weirdo's mingle with the hotties on the beach.

Magic Mountain is the shit. Good fun if pricey. Universal Studios is even more expensive but a blast.

Jump of the PCH and cruise down the coast. A dozen or so small beach towns are in front of you with everything a tourist trap town could want.

Irvine is a fun college party town with a good mix of bars.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Don't you have to make a reservation to go to the Getty Center?

IIRC its primarilly because of parking problems.

í don´t think so. at least when i was there, back in 2002 you hadn´t. they have enourmous parking houses at the bottom of the hill. from there a tram like train takes you up to the gettys.
