Yep. Leave it to florida to start something they can't finish. this controlled burn has been burning for something like 2 weeks and has caused some evacuations. Why is this significant? Well, how often do you hear of (Relatively) large wildfires in FLORIDA, the graveyard of weatherfronts? I think the last big ones were in 1999. Also, this fire has been one BITCH of a slut of a whore to contain. It is expected to get fanned somewhat today, though with 30 degree lows tonight, I can't see it getting TOO much worse. But it IS unprecedented for shit like this to happen so early in the year! Anyway. That's all the news that isn't.

"Controlled burn" is a bit of an misnomer in this case.

Wait a minute, this fire was started intentionally? Didn't these clowns check the weather reports or something and say, "Hey, this could cause some problems with our burn. We should hold off until the situation improves."

Controlled burns tend to make us nervous here out in New Mexico. Especially as one can go from days of afternoon thunderstorms dumping torrential rains to bone-dry, breezy days at the drop of a hat. The big Cerro Grande fire (notorious for torching a large part of Los Alamos) a few years back was a controlled burn that went very wrong.
