ST vs SW in a fair fight

Post by Aaron2 »

Just to make it fair ....

One the SW side we have one member of the Empire. Say a crusty old moisture farmer just trying to get past this years harvest.

On the ST side we have a happy Fed citizen living is a peaceful hippie commune settlement. (don't they all?)

(I'm assuming the moitsure farmer is a Tatooine moisture farmer.)

Moisture farmer has to keep such things as Tusken Raiders, Jawas, Banthas, etc off his land therefor I assume would have some sort of weapon (like Luke's rifle).
The Fed. lives in a peaceful place where there is no war, etc therefor does not have a weapon or any sort of expierience at all.

Crusty old moisture farmer wins hands down.

Hell, even if both were unarmed and it came down to a fist fight, I'd have to go with the moisture farmer over the Federation citizen (and I'm asuming that both are about the same age, like 35-45, to be fare).

The farmer actually has to work for a living, rather than get everything handed to him by the Federation (well, as little as they seem to get handed to them, that is).

Yeah, whatever you do, those crusty old farmers are tough bastards the world over. Don't mess with someone who works 12-hour days in the sun with heavy loads and regularly cuts up his own dinner.

I think, above anything else, this is an indication of the rest of the fights, the SW side has so many built in advantages its not even a close contest.

Well, to REALLY make it a fair fight...

Take a pampered and spoiled scion of Alderaanian upper-crust society (before the planet's blown to pieces, o'course) who has never had to lift a finger to support himself, and THEN pit him against a Federation citizen.

Both would probably be so effeminate that they'd degrade into cries of "He broke my nail!" or "Not in the face, not in the face!" before a single punch is thrown.

There will never be a resolution in the evolution vs creationism debate because neither side can conclusively prove that they are right. The creationists can't prove that they're right becuase they're not, and the evolutionists can't prove that they're right because the creationists are too damn stupid to listen.

This is silly. A farmer is a farmer. We could just as easily see the two meeting between their suddenly joined crops and talking about various seeding methods. Farmers do not care about politics.

If for some reason they fought (Hatfield vs. Mcoys) the SW farmer wins for the reasons that others posted. But I would argue that a ST farmer is not the wimp that the SW claim him to be. He knows what it takes to grow a farm and he deals with it.
Make him a fed colonist. These are not weak ppl even though they get routinely destroyed in the series. To be a colonist, in either genre, is not something to sneer at. These ppl are tough sobs! Look at our own history for an example.

But personally I think they would start trading information and not fight at all. They are farmers, realists, they both want to grow crops and neither gives a shit about the politics that surround their governments. And just to add, they want their children to live and take over their farms. They may not actually want the damn war at all. It doesn't make sense. They would converse.

Oh, for the love of

Let's change the premiss a little then

either
A)- Both the Star Wars Farmer and the Federation citizen are DRUNK (equally drunk, and in this case, skill are unaffected, they are just ready to fight)

B)- The Federation dilitante stole the Star Wars Farmer's date (who cares who the date looks like, he still lost his date)

C)- Someone offered the Farmer lots of equipment, money and land for beating the Federation person up, and the Federation person was offered a way off Tattooine if he beat up the Farmer. The farmer would want the land etc, and the Federation person would probably want of Tattooine PDQ therefore...

I'm going with the Farmer on this one. Unarmed vs Unarmed, he'd plumel the Federation person into the ground, probably kick him in places best left out of clean fights, bite him, and probably toss him into a table (or a wookie...)

The only way the Federation person has a chance if he is a former security officer that also has extensive martial arts training.

If the barfight erupted into a gunfight, it would really depend on who was the better shot.

Did meet in shady Endor bar
turned out to be mad scientist's lair
Above, half finished iron star

Beware the Gungawok, my son!
The ears that flop, the voice that grates
Beware the Nerf Herder and
never offer Gundark's dates

He took his glowing sword in hand:
Long time the demon foe he sought --
So rested he on a speeder bike,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in dark side thought he stood,
The Gungawok, with eyes , CG,
Came blundering through the Ewok wood
Crying, "Jar Jar eesa me..."

"Let the hate flow", the old man said,
the blade ignited, snap, hiss, and crack
The creature fell, and with it's CG head
Our hero went a moseying back...

And, hast thou slain the Gungawok?
Said the figure, who in the shadows, hid
I think we should get the beers in
And verily, so he did.

Twas the Gungawok in darkened wood
did meet doom on glowing saber
And identify our hero, I feel we should,
Turns out, it was Darth Vader.

Ok, so it doesnt scan, and it isnt very good, but how could I resist?

When someone asks who would win in a fight, the answer "they would not fight" is not an answer.
If for some reason they fought (Hatfield vs. Mcoys) the SW farmer wins for the reasons that others posted. But I would argue that a ST farmer is not the wimp that the SW claim him to be. He knows what it takes to grow a farm and he deals with it.
Picard grew up a farmer. His idea of combat tactics was "don't return fire, it might provoke them".

Our own history is not applicable to the Federation, unless you're talking about hippie commune history. ST Earth does not even appear to have any privately owned arms at all. Pit an armed SW farmer against an unarmed ST farmer and it's a very short story.
But personally I think they would start trading information and not fight at all. Of course. Throughout the history of mankind, rural peoples have never engaged in any kind of strife unless governments made them do it

How would a mosture farmer swap ideas with a conventional farmer.

Also, Federation farmers don't actually sell their produce. Thus the SW farmer would say, "You lucky bastard" and shoot him.

Given the billions of farmers and billions of potential experiences, etc., I'd say it's impossible to determine.

And let's not forget Broken Bow... ST farmers can have guns too, and powerful enough ones to nearly kill a Klingon. And that's in the 22nd century.
Human logic, though beguilingly simple, is seldom complete.
