Sorry, but I just can't find myself caring about 'Armada' in the least. I dislike the character designs and the tv series is on the same level as 'robots in disguise' (eg, complete bollocks).
You'd think the people behind all this would catch on that Generation 1 was still by far the most popular part of the TF mythos and would just work on that as a basis instead of handing out garbage like this...

Minicons... friggin' morons... bah!

Yes. And i got the first issue two days ago and it rocks. The best of all Armada/G1 comics published by Dreamwave. With Simon Furman at the helm then what can go wrong. He knows Transformers in and out.

And BTW GRIMLOCK RULES!

Apologies but the included pictures certainly don't look like Gen1...
Dammit, why do they have to go and mess with the ever cool designs from gen 1... bastards.

They look a bit buffed up ... like they've been taking robot roids or something.

The War within is Pre G1, in that it goes back to before the Transformers even arrived at Earth, and so before they where erm whats the word, modified in the Ark. It means that they do look different, the Ark had to modify both forms to make the new transformation's possible, but it IS G1, it is as good as G1. (I have it on standing order, actually I didn't realise I had it on standing order, I went in saw it was out, and almost kicked myself for not having a standing order for it, but as I had the others on standing order the shop showing their wisdom automatically put me down for it....

Anyway IT ROCKS, optimus isn't Prime yet, and wants to abandon Cybratron, Grimlock wants to overthrow the next Prime (Optimus) if it turns out that he is as much of a bad Prime as the previous lot in the war effort... and more. Oh and Optimus getting the Matrix...

And those Decepticon assassins were crue, cool and effective. I hope to see some Transformers that used to be Headmasters in G1 comic in TWW too. But without the humans. Kup was there and he became one of the Targetmasters.

It is G1. It's a prequel set on Cybertron during the early days of the war (before they came to Earth).

Hrm. I could have sworn that early parts of Cybertron's history had already been covered - especially in the comics.
We've seen pre-Prime Optimus in both cartoon and US comics and he certainly didn't look like THAT...

The Dreamwave G1 comics are an alternate continuity combining elements from both the original cartoon and comics into (hopefully) a more cohesive and mature story arc. Basically, it's what Armada should be.

I believe i saw an article long time ago where this Armada was to combine with other Transformers universes. It mention names as Ironhide, Galvatron etc. It had my expectations built up till now. Armada appears to be far worse than RID so far.

Armada, quite frankly, makes me want to go hurt certain people really, really badly.
Who ever thought of this drek really needs to be taken out the back and whacked across the back of the head with a really big brick...

But I always have the ever good UK Transformers Comics to fall back on ... no one has been able to match the stories 'Legacy of Unicron' or 'Time Wars' yet, that's for sure.

Well, then you'll definitely want to read The War Within because Simon "UK Transformers" Furman is writing it.

Armada is nothing more than Pokemecha.

Armada sucks. Check out this guy's pic of Optimus Prime though. He ought to be doing the G1 comic...

I never really got into drawing robots, mechs and ships, even though I grew up on Star Wars and Transformers. That picture right there is just a lot of shit to draw. I really have to respect the guys that do that. Pat Lee really gets a thumbs up too. I didn't like some of his early art and the way he did people, but you can't stop this guy when it comes to robots in disguise. If I'm not mistaken he drew the two variant covers for the first Transformer comic and damn they are beyond belief.

New Comix Good, New TV show SUX

Post by Patrick Degan »

The new Transformer comics look good.

This new TV show, however, is just awful. Cute kids and robots —the moment I saw that, I knew it was doomed. And I don't care what they try to foist upon us. Megatron is not a tank. Even the Predacon version of Megatron is better than that abomination.

I've decided that I hate the new TV series. Yesss....

We can always hope that one day the REAL Optimus Prime (with John Wayne style voice and all) turns up and shows these accursed pretenders who's boss

Or maybe they can unleash Galvatron (true UK comic version who can curbstomp powermaster Optimus with relative ease) upon these unholy abominations... that would be much fun to see...
