The illusion waves it's hand, and the still image of a beautifull elfven woman appears next to it.

"Tell me, do you know who this is?"

++I know this seems terribly over-dramatic, but I felt that a CG charachter converting to Shar for no apprant reason was extremely bad RP'ing. Thus, I present to you a reason. Plus it gives me an excuse to act like a villain should. ^_^++

++Also, if your wondering about the fact that my char is apprantly lying. He feels he can exaggerate a bit becase he's overconfident in the extreme++

In Celesital. "Next time you may want to check that the person your trying to leave in the dark dosn't speak your language."

Laz breifly tried to think of a phrase for lycanthropy that didn't descirbe it as a curse or desease. He failed.

"......afflicted with lycanthropy, she was chased out of her home town, her faimly disavowed her, and in time, denied that she ever existed. But she recovered, eventaully learned to control her other half to an impressive degree, and found an occupation. Helping others like her recover, and releasing other from oppression. And now....."

*with a hand wave, the image vanishes*

".....she is dead. Killed by wizards who drew their power from you benevolnt, caring goddess."

Laz spoke the words with sarcasm and contempt

"Here's someone else, your more likely to recognize this one."

*The image appears of a red wizard in full battle garb*

"Ah yes, the red wizards, the scurge of fae'rune. Weave users, all of them."

The image is one again removed.

"Now, this must seem terribly over dramatic, but I have one last thing to show you."

An image appeared unlike the ones before it, this one showed a city that appeared to be suspended above the ground.

"Now, this one isn't entirly accurate, it's based off a drawing in an old book, I had to fill in most of the details, but i'm sure you still recognize it. The empire of Netheril, the greatest empire the world has ever seen, beautifull cities, magic that extends life, citizens who can rest knowing that they are truely safe from harm, surely it will last forver....."

In the image, the floating city suddenly fell, vanishing as it hit the point where a real city would have hit the ground.

The illusion drew a breath of air between it's teeth.
"Or didn't I speak too soon? Oh well, that's what happens when you fail to keep your followers in line."

The illusion of laz turned back to the assembled party, facaing directicly at Astinius.
"Your god is a hypocrite, claiming to be a force of good while handing power to every mage who can learn cantrips, no matter what they would use it for. Your god is weak, lacking the strengh to control the weve she claims to be a master of. Your god's NEGLEGENCE distroyed the greatest empire Toril has ever known, and suppresses the world to this day!"

Laz seems to calm down.

"But, I didn't come here to tell you what you allready know. I came to deliver a warning and make an offer. Much as I loathe your goddess, I know that you here....."

*gestures to the party*

"...are only doing what you can to stop evil, weather it's in her name or not. I respect the hell out of that, so i'm going to give you a chance to win. Shar's followers have......changed their tactics. Those who feels as I do are now going to hear her call. Allready, some who have felt the heel of her oppression have joined. Soon, more will follow. A war is coming, between those who feel the power of magic *glances at the mages*, and those who feel pain because of it."

The illusion takes a step back.

"Now, I have and offer for you, and I must make a request. The offer stands for those of you who wish to join the winning side, you are always welcome. The request, severl of my men are being held by the Night Masks and tortured. I ask that if you find any of them, that you help, and not judge them by my actions."

Back in his camp with his scrying crystals, where none of the hero's could hear him, the real Laz laughed

"Gods, I sound like the villan out of a old bards tale don't I? Well....."
Laz silently cursed his inabilty to help him followers
"....It's all I can do. My efforts are better spent here. And I made a token effort to turn them to our side so Shar hopefully won't be mad, I guess that's worth............somthing." Laz spoke without conviction.

Alerted by sounds of breathing, Laz turned to see the villager who was standing just a barely 20ft away. He glared, despritly tired to avoid looking embarresd, and made a mental note to break the habit of talking to himself.

"Solider, you have somewhere you urgently need to be to be, now. Do not bother me again."

Back at the abby, the illusion has apprantly stopped it's monologue and is finally letting you get a word in edgewise.

++For those of you that felt I was a little (read: way) too Cliché, i'm sorry, but I felt that Laz's charachter was a bit.........two dimensional, and not involved with the main party enough. So I gave him a deeprooted but misguided sence of right and wrong, and a flair for the dramatic. Sorry if I overdid it. (The fact that I was listening to the music from LOTR at the time didn't help)++

++Although I must say, the main advantage to talking through an illusion is that the illusion won't run out of breath. ^_^++

Gaheris drew his sword. "We have nothing more to say to you, fiend. Begone, or illusion or not I shall smite you." He stepped forward, knowing that he likely could cause the illusion no harm, but he was frustrated and felt the need to attack something, any deserving target whether he could do actual harm or no.

"My words disturb you, strange, you would think one so secure that he is right would not be so bothered by the truth. It's a damn shame to see such nobility fighting on the wrong side. Consider what I've said. In the meantime, best of luck with the vampires, and I would recommend drinking nothing but holy water the day before your attack. It'll give a nasty shock to any vampire that tries to drain you. May Shar show mercy on you."

*the illusion vanishes, and all scrying spells are discontinued*

Back in the camp, Laz solemly packs up his scrying equipment, casts anti-magic field on himself for protection against counter scrying, and rejoins the rest of the camp.

At this point, Secquon takes a trip down to the armory to see how many wooden stakes, holy wafers, and vials of holy water can be acquired. Also to see if there's anything useful against undead the armorer might lend out briefly(yeah I know, but I have to try).

Mystra's intentions are good, and she was good before she ascended, but you realize that the weave is an energy field that surrounds the entire plane of existence. The fact is, it is net mystras duty to make sure that people handle magic for good. It is her duty as the godess of magic to see to it that magic is not used irresponsilbly

Your knowledge of magic is sub-par at best. Magic is not handed to people. They have to earn it, whether wizard or sorcerer, they must sstill devote thier lives to mastering the weave. To mystra, t doesnt matter what magic is used for so long as it is not used to damage the weave. Its individual uses are up to the user. If you actually studied mystras teachings you wuld know that. I knew her before she ascended. I know her all to well.

It was human foolishness that destroyed netheril. The Mythallar strained te weave and Karus chose the wrong god to kill. It was not Mystras doing. She killed herself to save Toril when that happened!!

As to your offer, None of us will join the side of the Godess of strife. If you think Mystra is evil, what of Shar? The moment you fail she will kill you. And I swear on my parents graves that you will fail. They were killed defending their home from Sharran clerics.

If you think Mystra is evil, what of Shar?

To mystra, t doesnt matter what magic is used for so long as it is not used to damage the weave.

Gaheris put up his sword. "By Tyr, the Night Masters shall taste steel rather than blood next dawn." The paladin stalked off, not stomping in frustration like many of his peers would do, but moving quickly, quietly, and efficiently towards the training grounds. Old habits die hard, and he had learned that anger was better expressed quietly when he was a boy on these streets.

Gaheris was feeling on edge this night. The abbey walls, while relatively safe, felt confining for some reason. And he had a sense of foreboding...

He walked to the stables, and led out Percival. He mounted the griffon without a word, making sure his gear was strapped on tightly. With a soft cry, Percival jumped, pumping his wings to bear them aloft. Gaheris would fly patrol for an hour or two. He knew not why he felt the need to do this. Perhaps something would come of it, perhaps not. If nothing else, it felt good to feel the night air in his face. He wheeled at about a quarter mile from the abbey, taking up a circular patrol pattern. Both mount and rider scanned the skies and streets carefully, looking for any threat...
