Anyone interested in an FR game?

I was just looking over the Magic of Fae'run book, and there is no "Chosen of Mystra" template.

The template Alyrium is using is the Magistar, practically the Avatar of Mystra.

Alyrium, please explain this inconsistancy.

The Chosen Of Mystra is from the FR Sourcebook, under Mystra's entry.

Interesting, though saddened I could not unleash Spellfiery Fury on some big name NPC.

And jealous Alyrium got to ask for that template before I. Now I must come up with something unique.

Oh mighty DM, me and alyrium are having a debate that thine must settle.

My char has a "stone gaze" ability that lists effects more or less exactly the same as the spell "Flesh to Stone". Alyrium is immune to the spell "Flesh to Stone", and we are trying to figure out if Alyrium is immune to my gaze attack.

I use the reasoing that since nowhere does the gaze attack use the phrase "as per Flesh to Stone" or even mention the spell Flesh to Stone that they are two similiar, but DIFFERENT abilites and his spell specific immunity does not apply.

He uses the reason that since the effects are the same anyway, the fact that it dosn't actually say "as per the spell" is irrelevent since it's the same effect anyway.

Your verdict?

To put this conflict into perspective, as per Tale Of The Comet, if you're immune to Fireball, you're immune to high explosive missiles which happen to act similar to a Fireball spell.

Actually, it would reveal that no matter the exact mechanism(Be it gaze attack, technology, or magic spell), immunity remains immunity.

Ah, but his dosn't say "Immunity to petrification" or "Immunity to being turned to stone", it says "Immunity to Flesh to Stone". It dosn't even block other spells with very very smiliar effects.

Yet your own words describe it's effects as being:

exactly the same as the spell "Flesh to Stone".

THis would mean it falls under the immunity.

Well look atit ths way... You are uisng the weave to turn a person into stone.

The spell Flesh to Stone uses the weave to turn someone into stone.

Now, logically, the fluctuations in the weave would be VERY similar or identical to each other.

I am granted immunity to those effects because those fluctuations in the weave do not have an effect on me, hence, I am immune to your gaze attack.

Alyrium, you are not immune to any other effects that duplicate said spell effects, just the spells themselves. They dont rely on the weave at all. (as they are either supernatural or spell-like abilities).
