bwhahahah! PWNED!As we know, UT2k4 was released early this week, and epic is doing the same thing they did with UT2k3. Let the cheaters run RAMPENT with absolutly NO protection in the game....for one week. Then MASSIVE CD key bans. Let them have their fun, give them a chance to play fair, see who uses hacks...then kick them out.
Here is the message (Actual screenshot posted by someone complaining they were banned globally)
(see thread for image)
and here is the reason for the poor grammer (Epic confirms that IS the message a cheater would get)

Just as a sidenote, before a ban like this goes into effect, you have to be flagged as a cheater by a number of servers, at which point one of a few epic employees keeps an eye out for your CDKey, then spectates you in a game. they get 100% confirmation that you are cheating before banning you)

Hahaha, so Epic has DrSin working for them... Heh heh heh. No wonder the cheaters are having such a problem now. He's the guy who, on his own, developed the Client-Side Hack Protection for the original UT...

Muahahaha, in your face fuckers!
A couple weeks ago I encountered a guy using a speed hack in the freaking demo. We were playing Onslaught and there was no way my team could take him on let alone the rest of his team mates. Every game they'd win and he'd fucking celebrate. That's just messed up, I don't see what kind of satisfaction he got from that, it's not like he won through superior skill or intelligence (ohh look, here's a program to cheat for me, now I'm a winner!).

Your CD-KEY has been banned by the master server. This ban will remain in place until you realize your mistakes. You like playing with bots.. now you only get to play with them.
Fucking awesome. I love it when a game company exposes people like that.

Now if Valve had the balls to do something about the out of control hacking in HL mods...
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Why is UT2004 so popular? It looks the frigging same as UT2003, plays the frigging same, and it's only addition of note is a poor imitation of Tribes. I just don't get it.
Like Legend of Galactic Heroes? Please contribute to http://gineipaedia.com/
Because UT2003 was shit. UT2004 is similar, but is far more like the original - hence its brilliant. Plus Onslaught rocksVympel wrote:Why is UT2004 so popular? Fundamentally, every FPS is the same. You run around and shoot people.Vympel wrote:Why is UT2004 so popular? It looks the frigging same as UT2003, plays the frigging same, and it's only addition of note is a poor imitation of Tribes. I just don't get it.
Fundamentally, every recent FPS has been the same. You run around, shoot people, and complete objectives while trying to work as a team.
That said, once you can work your mind around this little detail that is very unimportant in the long run, UT2004 is incredibly fun. And fun is the reason why we play games in the first place so why worry about those unimportant details like how this game is similar to this and that, etc.
What's her bust size!?
It's over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAND!!!!!!!!!

Well put. I think sometimes people tend to forget about the fun aspect.Shinova wrote: That said, once you can work your mind around this little detail that is very unimportant in the long run, UT2004 is incredibly fun. Neither do I. It is the same game that has been regurgitated at us for the last few years, no new guns, pretty much the same gametypes, only has some new maps. But I haven't had this much fun in a pure FPS since Half Life.Vympel wrote:Why is UT2004 so popular? It probably has something to do with the gameplay.

I EB'd True Crime (very easy and short) for 2k4, expected it to be rubbish like 2k3, but I'm not EB'ing it back. I've found the engine is far more efficent than 2k3, its polished up the wah zoo, the bots are frickin HARD mofos, and most of all, its actually fun! Not at all what I expected, but I'll be impressed if HL2 is this much fun.
Basically, UT2004 is what UT2003 should have been.Vympel wrote:Why is UT2004 so popular? It looks the frigging same as UT2003, plays the frigging same, and it's only addition of note is a poor imitation of Tribes. I just don't get it.
