A communicae from Tsar Gandalf II of Russia:

My fellow citizens.

This is a dark day, Chinese forces under the despotic Emperor Verilon have struck at Port Arthur, to the west of the Korean Peninsula. As best as we can tell, the Chinese attacked from Manchuria, to the North of Port Arthur. The town was theirs in a matter of hours. There have been no survivors found.

This aggression will not go unmet. As we speak, reinforcements of Russian troops are headed east to halt this growing threat. They will be there before the end of the season.

What they will face is opposition, but we will meet that with equal and greater force. We will not relinquish our boundaries, our brothers, and our blood for the treacheries of others; we will face it head on, and prevail. Mother Russia has withstood calamities in the past, and this will be no different.

Because always has Russia been preserved by those who are willing to defend it. Have no fear; we will rise to the occassion, and our lands and lives will be spent to ensure the safety of posterity.

So, Emperor Verilon, consider this an official declaration of war from the Tsar of Russia on China. Let it be known we will stop at nothing short of glorious victory.

Emperor Chris III sent his blessing to the new fleet constructed at the fleet yards in the Society Islands. Naysayers said it could not be done, yet it took a mere December to start and finish the new ships. When asked about the intentions of the doubling of French presense in the region, the Emperor remarked "Peace in our time, my friend."

Africa Commissions Canoe Force

While lacking in such modern facilities like Pacific bases, Africans in French Liberia showed French pride in the construction of a fleet composed of pure, untouched logs. When asked for a comment, Fleet Admiral Faux commented "What?"

France Attacked by Self

Due to an undue panic from the sudden creation of new armies and fleets, France declared war on itself and promptly surrendered to the new armies. Diplomats are baffled.

Indochina Ceded to France by France

As a condition of the peace treaty between France and France, Indochina will be ceded to France. Emperor Chris III arrived earlier today to accept the surrender from himself.

The 2nd and 3rd Fleet campaign in Shanghai ended last month, with a decisive victory for the the Empire of Japan. With the victory in China, Japanese enlistment has swelled, leading the Son of Heaven, Lord Yoshi, to approve the creation of a new army, based in Okinawa.

One British Fleet stationed in ADE recently tried to move to HDR... Fortunately, our brave Turkish Army managed to force the advancing British Fleet to retreat.

Of course, we hope that this is merely a misunderstanding, and we remind the British of their contract of not touching Oman... Any further acts of aggression against the Ottoman Empire will not be tolerated. You have already tried to make insincere promises, any more deceit will not be tolerated.

In Prussia the construction of the last great ships for the new Grand Baltic Fleet was completed amist scenes of celebration. The proud people of Greater Prussia see this as their first steps toward their destiny alongside their noble European neighbours.

Chancellor von Stark spoke to the assembled multitudes: 'The destiny of our great nation is thus secured. In the greatest Prussian tradition, with the help of all the new peoples under our glorious banner, we are ready to follow in the footsteps of the greatest nations on Earth.' His speech was met with rapturous applause. The Chancellor has now begun a tour through the lands of Denmark, to review the provinces administration.

Brasilia also hopes that this conflict in the South Atlantic would spur the fall of this world-loathed British Empire. Brazil would like to send a message to North America: to the CSA: good luck in killing the United States; to the USA: sorry pal, but you're a gonner. Guess what? Those battle plans you leaked me? Guess where they went? Straight to your confederate counterparts. Even Mexico can't save you now. Africa looks real good right about now - maybe all three of us can still make an assault. I bring thee greetings from the CSA via this beautiful state controlled newspaper brings you the best in bias information!
The troops of CSA celebrate the taking back of the wonderful provinces of Cuba and Oklahoma. Now we can rest in peace, knowing we have an unlimited supply of white rum from cuba, AND whisky and buorbon from tennessee.

The war agains the evil empire of the USA is a constant struggle, see-sawing between empires. I thank mexico for their undying loyalty in providing me with invaluable information on the movements of US troops near their border. Also thanks should be given to every country across the earth that has sent supplies, booze, moral support, booze, information and booze. Special thanks to russia for crates of top quality vodka. also thanks to prussia for telling his pub stories.. and generally being queenslander like.

This weekend in St Louis the annual blues festival will be held, i implore all of you to give it a visit. p.s. the bi-annual baseball 5 game series between US and CSA this year will go ahead, regardless of political tensions.. (or all out war as it seems to be)

Holland is lost (months ago)

In a stunning battle, the French took Holland from Holland. Thankfully, Great Leader Sean was in Borneo with the troops at the time. Immediatly after hearing about this terrible treachery, GL Sean gave an inspirational speech to the troops. "This is a day that shall live in the minds of Dutchmen forever. The French have stepped on the flag of Holland and disgraced it. That is why I am announcing the formation of a new state. Out of the ashes of the old Holland shall come a country the world will not so easily put down. This new country is DRAFT! And we, we are the men and women that shall make DRAFT [Dutch Resistance Against French Tyranny] the premier country of the world!" This was met with a standing ovation from the troops and a lovely turkey dinner. GL Sean carved the turkey and all was well.

WAR with Britain

Due to a complete breakdown in communications between Holland and Britain, war was declared. This war has continued, even after the dissolution of Holland. GL Sean expects a decisive victory for DRAFT.

Peking Falls
Continuing their campaign in China, the 2nd and 3rd Fleets won a decisive victory in the Chinese capital. The Chinese fleet garrisoned in the province was completely routed, leaving Peking open to Japanese occupation. The Son of Heaven has already approved plans to establish a permanent presence in the region.

British advance North
The British Empire has moved north, driving the Japanese 1st Fleet out of the East China Sea. Admiral Yamauchi retreated into the Philippine Sea, and assures Fleet Command that casualties from the British offensive were minimal, and that the 1st Fleet would be able to continue operations. The Son of Heaven denounced the attack, and called for an expulsion of the Western Devils.

France's Terms of Surrender Ratified

The imperial court has finalized the surrender treaty to France:

The European Union (Consisting of France, Catalonia, the Netherlands, and Piedmont) will remain with the French.
The French Pacific Territories will be handed over to France.
The Viceroyalty of French Liberia will be split by France and France.
The Viceroyalty of French Indochina will also be split by France and France, but in a 60:40 ratio favoring France.

Chinese officials declared war on Russia and Japan this evening. The losses of several provinces along the eastern coast have spurred an outrage amongst the peoples. The area around the Yellow Sea has been battle-ridden and is regrouping quickly.

Further documentation from Manchuria, Shanghai and Peking are anticipated within the next months to determine how many refugees are on the move.

BRC CONQUERED

Brasilia announces that the conquest of all of neutral South America is complete. As Brazilian forces marched into the neutral provence of BRC, the crowds of Brazilians in the streets roared. Soccer games actually came to a halt to watch the army enter the city. The people in these cities of South America have adopted soccer in a big way. In Rio de Janeiro, the capital of Brasilia, celebrations were held in the streets of the city.

USA CRUMBLES

Mexico and the Confederate States launched brutal attacks on the unsuspecting Federation. New Mexico was lost and the fleet off the coast of San Fransisco was dislodged in the early morning hours on what appeared to be a brilliant fall day. The dislodged fleet dealt a greater blow to the United States than the loss of New Mexico. Mexico was considered an ally to the United States - untill now. Brasilia wishes the Confederate States and the Republic of Mexico the best of luck in defeating these overzealous zealots.

CHINA?!

Brasilia is concerned about the Chinese conquest of the Brasilian fatherland - Portugal. Does China declare war on Brasilia? Or was this a horrible mistake by an inept map maker? Brasilia only hopes that this situation can be resolved diplomatically or by use of Paint Shop Pro. While the Chinese are occupying Portugal, Brasilia asks them to be decent to its people, not to destroy anything and respect the beauty and the history of the mighty Portugese.

In an ill-disguised attempt of aggression, the British fleet in ADE attempted to dislodge our fleet in the Red Sea, but fortunately, our brilliant strategists had foreseen the move, and cut off their support from ABY.

We offer the British two choices: Withdraw from ABY and ADE completely, or face total destruction. These terms are not negotiable.

In a surprise attack, the Chinese Army caught the 3rd Fleet off guard, completely destroying it. There has been no official word on survivors, but rumor has it that some escaped into Shanghai. The Son of Heaven commends the Chinese for their prowess, especially after the fall of their capital.

Chinese Attack Shanghai; Japanese Repulse Attack
The 1st Division of the Japanese Army was slated to convoy across the Yellow Sea into Shanghai, but an attack from the Chinese Army forced the convoy to delay its departure. Thankfully, the attacking army was repulsed from the province.

British Navy Hounds 1st Fleet
The British Navy continues its aggression in the Pacific, forcing the 1st Fleet out of the Philippine Sea. The 2nd Division, originally under orders to take the Philippine archipelago, is now preparing for action against the British Empire.

Russia Moves South
The Russian Navy advanced south, causing some panic in the populace. Lord Yoshi assures the people that there is nothing to fear, saying "any invasion will be quickly repulsed."

Victory was attained in Peking. Swift moves to recover the homeland have proven successful, and China has reclaimed one of its provinces to rightful ownership.

Russo-Chinese relations have seemed to improve, with no battles along the tenuous border.

In other news, apparently Star Trek has visited the Mid-19th Century and beamed random invisible Chinese units to Portugal, Somalia and Eastern Africa.

China lately tries to determine what to do with the recent French and British situations. Tensions arise on borders that are seemingly friendly. But who is friend and who is foe?
