You don't think people will go back and read or re-read those whole threads do you? Please post specific examples.
K. He said all of the following (in separate posts):
I love Mr. Wong. I jack off to his picture every night.
THAT HAS GOT TO BE THE SINGLE MOST STUPIDEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD.
PS I don't really care if I'm "flaming" or whatever lingo you forum people use.
jesus this entire board has turned into one giant flaming pit of flames.
200 GIGATON LASERS DO NOT EXIST. THE POWER OF THAT ALONE WOULD BE ABLE TO DESTROY A PLANET IN A SINGLE SHOT
For now, I'd just like to quote from Mr. Wong's commentaries about turbolasers:
"Of course, with the energy required to vaporise the asteroid (~250 terajoules), a turbolaser bolt must have on the order of 3750 terawatts of firepower. The energy released would be approximately 4 times more than that of the Hiroshima bomb. "
Please note that the yield of the Hiroshima bomb was 20 kilotons, also note that 4 times 20 = 80. Therefore, a turbolaser bolt is approximately equal to 80 kilotons.
And if you're saying Star Trek torpedoes can reach up into the gigatons in yield.. Hm. Basic math tells me that the most powerful Federation torpedoes are about 50,000 more powerful than a turbolaser bolt. There's also the account of since torpedoes explode in all directions, only half of its explosive force would effect its target; equalling its damage done to a target to about 25,000 times more powerful than a turbolaser blast.
There you have it, folks. Irrefutable evidence.
Even if its the reported 64 megaton and 128 megaton, a torpedo would still be about 8000 times more powerful for the "normal" torpedo and 1600 times more powerful for quantum torpedoes, than Star Wars turbolasers.
OH PLEASE. Scientific analysis of WHAT? A few seconds of footage where an ISD blows up a few SMALL, yes, SMALL asteroids?
The Enterprise has destroyed much larger asteroids, several kilometers wide. Also, the Enterprise's phasers have been used to drill through KILOMETERS of a planet's surface, to help in mining processes.
There are plenty of ways that even a damned shuttlecraft could wipe out an ISD. Think outside the box.
A single torpedo in the bridge could put an SSD out of action, ROTJ pretty much proved that.
Can someone honestly tell me why the following wouldn't work, because I've brought it up a few times and nobody seems to respond.
1 Torpedo to take out the shield generators.
1 more torpedo into the bridge.
Why wouldn't that work, exactly....?
