Ok, so I understand: what was so shit about UT2003, and why is UT2004 not shit? I'm sorry, I just don't see a whit of difference between the two other than new maps and new modes.

If only Volition had done that with Red Faction. The number of people running the flying hack now outnumber the people that don't. Online RF is more of a flight-sim now.
LOL.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

It's the 'next step' in a favoured franchise, is all. You might as well as why Call of Duty is so popular when Day of Defeat is still out, or why people buy Battlefield: Vietnam when they can get functionally the same game in the Eve of Destruction mod for free.

The 'next FPS' appeals to FPS gamers the same way that sports games appeal to sports game players - it's the same game over and over, with new player names, new stats, and better graphics.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Just installed the DVD version. Very fun game, my only gripe is that the loading times are very long compared to the demo. I run a high end system so I am puzzled as to why this is happening. Hopefully a patch will address it.

Is this ban successful? I know when peeps get banned "permanently" in diablo they just register with CD-Key generators and they are back the next day.

You could copy over the data to the hard drive and run it from there; historically the UT engine hasn't been to hard-nosed about running stuff off CDs or whatnot.

Also, as I recall, the UT engine has a few loading time tweaks. You might be able to turn off precaching, although it will cause intermittent pauses in the gameplay it will decrease level load times.

Sigh. I haven't played UT in such a long time...

Thanks for the help. I've looked into the matter further and after some tweaking the UT.ini file, the load times are down by a noticable amount. :)
