You actually got a reason behind that one? The P90 is a good weapon for what they use it for.
The P90 sucks in reality. It is loved by fanboys, hated by professionals. For one thing, despite being able to easily perforate soft body armor, it's 5.7x28mm SS190 round has minimal stopping power (even less than 9x19mm Parabellum, as proven by geletin tests), and thus is totally incapible of causing incapacitating damage wihout hitting organs like the lungs and heart (but then, the rounds can't even penetrate human ribs).

If you drop the weapon's magazine while partially loaded, or the weapon when fitted a with a partially loaded magazine, it will dislododge the rounds in the mag and seriously jam the weapon. Several papers have been written describing the poor terminal performance of the 5.7mm SS190 cartridge, and all these papers strongly advise police and military customers from adopting the P90...

You would be much better off with an M4...
And I have statements from professional soldiers who would disagree about the P90 being a poor weapon. It provides superior range compared to 9mm SMGs along with superior penetration.

The weapon has its pros and cons like all weapons. As it stands the makers of SG1 take this into account. There is a reason why the P90 is not standard issue for combat teams, it is a special issue weapon only.

Read that before you say anything more about the weapons used in the series.

Erm, even FN-USA's corporate website (whom I'd expect to try and make their own weapon look as good as possible) quotes the effective range at only 200m. Where did the 300m in your article come from?

Besides, have these soldiers you mentioned in your post actually used the weapon in combat (I don't see where they could have, the only actual combat incident involving P90s that I'm aware of was the Peruvan Embassy Seige in 1995), or just in training sessions? If it was only in training, then it would not address the crux of the weapon's problems, which is the cartridge it fires and how much stopping power it delivers (a problem not mentioned in your article). Geletin test have proven that the 5.7mm SS190 cartridge inflicts less tissue damage than 9mm Parabellum or 5.56 NATO (both these rounds already have complaints concerning their stopping power). A weapon's overall effectivness is strongly dependant on the effectivness of it's ammunition, regardless of it's other advantages and features.

That was not placed there by me. You should be paying attention to the actual writing.

And in the SG1 universe the P90's superior penetration makes it a better weapon against several of the enemies that the SGC go up against. Its armor penetration is enough to take down both Jaffa and Unas quicker then a standard MP5. However because of the weapons jamming issue and magazine weakness it is special issue only. MP5s and M4s are standard issue for combat teams.
