True, but they only become a problem if they act out on their wishes. If he had sex with a young-looking prostitute, honestly believing that she is of legal age, then he can't really be blamed. Pedophelia is a disease, you can't blame people for their desires. You can, however, blame them for the actions that occur as the result of his desires.

I can`t confirm it but apparently he and other friends in the Quebecs elite were doing frequent flight to countries like Thailand,and its suspected they went there for the juvenile prostitution market.

I can't really fault him that much for what he did in Canada. I could imagine mistaking a 17-year old for 18 (which I assume is the legal age in Canada). I think it's kinda nasty to be screwing someone thirty years younger than you are, but if they are legal (or if he was mislead into believing she was legal) then I have no place to judge.

If the Thai bit is true though, that is indeed bad.

Hell, I say charge him with whatever you get charged with for having sex with a minor (statutory rape, I think), as it *is* his fault for not verifying her age, regardless of whether she misled him or not. There are such things as driver's licenses and other forms of ID for that purpose.

On the subject of pedophiles, he actually sounds like the less dangerous type. He knows he's a pedophile, he knows it's illegal, and he mentally does not want to fuck around with underage people, even if emotionally and physically, he does. I see nothing wrong with a pedophile finding legal ways to satisfy his/her desires, such as finding adults that look a lot younger than they are (there are plenty about, I know quite a few myself). It shows that they're making a good effort to control their desires, and are at least aware of *some* of the consequences of what they might do. This guy was trying, but made a mistake. He should be punished for that, but not fucking crucified for it.

Well, okay, if that's true, then that substantially changes my opinion. Hang the fucker. There are plenty of legal ways to satisfy your pedophilic urges here in the US with *consenting adults*. Going overseas and renting what is pretty much a sex-slave (not the good kind of s&m sex slave, either) is unforgiveable.
