This could be ugly...
Edward takes aim once more, searching for an officer or NCO, then let's loose another round.

With a base attack of only +5 I can't take extra shots without sacrificing some accuracy can I? Emptying one's magazine on full auto is so... sloppy.Stofsk wrote:Just one?JediNeophyte wrote:This could be ugly...

Mike, you got a natural 20, it was a resounding success. Try to get some more in future.
EDIT: Furthermore, Edward is running off looted ammunition. If a single bullet takes a target down, why waste ammo?

Who cares if it's sloppy?JediNeophyte wrote:With a base attack of only +5 I can't take extra shots without sacrificing some accuracy can I? Emptying one's magazine on full auto is so... sloppy.
Except that's not how it works. A single bullet may indeed take a target down, but 4 bullets can take down a target quicker. Note that you've only killed the driver in the first jeep, and he wasn't expecting you. The others are now gunning for your arse and aren't shy about using their weapons. In any case it doesn't matter - do what you like.EDIT: Furthermore, Edward is running off looted ammunition. If a single bullet takes a target down, why waste ammo?

First Squad (guys using the jeeps as a kind of barricade) lay down covering fire. This means they're not actually aiming for you but in the general vicinity.
1: (1-20) 11 + 5 = 16 - 4 for burst fire = 12
2: (1-20) 18 + 5 = 23 - 4 for burst fire = 19
3: (1-20) 5 + 5 = 10 - 4 for burst fire = 6
4: (1-20) 14 + 5 = 19 - 4 for burst fire = 15
Both the 19 and the 15 hit. The combined damage is 15, split between the three of you so you each take 5 points of Stamina damage. This means essentially you dived for cover and didn't get hit, but you still lost stamina trying.
Second Squad uses the covering fire to approach the house. They'll be at the entrance by the end of the next round.
New round. New initiative.

"Bad enough for you to require safe haven, I'm sure." she looked neutral. After a second she looked at the two bruisers who accompanied her in.FaxModem1 wrote:Frank, trying to pry information out of his captors, changed the subect.
"What's going on outside? How bad is it outside?"
"Clear the room."
They were obviously not expecting to hear that.
"-But, Lieutenant - we -"
"Don't question my orders." she said while glaring at the two bruisers.
They left, albeit reluctantly. After waiting for the door to close behind them she got up, slowly, and walked to where frank was sitting. You realise what she's going to do a half second before she does it, but it does you no good. With a single kick you're a thrown from your chair and land on the hard metal floor. Sybeline stands over you but doesn't waste time to gloat as she quickly lands and then straddles you, keeping her knees on both your arms and pinning you to the floor. Although she looks like she can hurt you the kick did no real damage.
"I think the real question you should be asking is 'how bad is it going to be inside here with me?'" she smirks. "Of course I could tell you what's going on outside, but wouldn't you rather tell me what I want to know?" she purrs sweetly.
At that point your datalink chirps for attention. And at the same instant, Sybeline frowns at something.
I fire as many rounds as I can at whoever I have the best chance of hitting,

I'm working on character sheets for everybody in a Word format, but can you tell me what your attack bonus is like? (dex + bab which is identical to D&D's Rogue class + anything else?)lazerus wrote:I fire as many rounds as I can at whoever I have the best chance of hitting,
Also, is there any particular tactic you wish to employ? Say, looking for cover? They're spaying the house with gunfire, and they're not shy about expending their ammo.
[edit] Are you wearing any armour?
No armor, I have 18DEX (+4), so that makes a total of +7 attack bonus.
And i'm allready behind cover.

(1-20) fumble
(1-20) 4 + 5 = 9.
Jax squeeses off a shot at the incoming 2nd Squad, braving the cover fire. He misses but also opens himself up. (sorry - you rolled a nat 1) Though he surprised the sharadan troopers, who dropped to the ground, one of them takes the opportunity to shoot at Jax. His attack goes wide and misses, and Jax finds cover before they can return fire.

She doesn't budge an inch, but she does look down at you a bit surprised.FaxModem1 wrote:"AHHH, god, I think you broke something. Please, get off my back. It hurts."
"You're - not going anywhere, Mister Summers." she says somewhat detachedly, but she presses her knees down further to punctuate her position.
You suddenly hear a voice inside your head.
Don't use your datalink while in here, fool! We have means of detecting such things. Tell me quickly, do you have a ship that can fly? I need to get off this planet.
It's Sybeline's voice inside your head.
Note: she detected the incoming message from your ship, not your use of it. However, that was enough for her to zero in on it, and seeings as she was in such close range as well... but you don't know who else may have "listened" in.

Frank, in a quick movement headbutts the back of his head into her face, making her fall off of him to the floor. Frank quickly gets up and fastly puts his arm to her throat while she's laying on the ground.
"Now, even if I had a ship, why makes you think I could get to it or if I could, let you on it?"
Frank frisks her to see if she has any concealed weapons, equipment, or keys.

I've elected 'controlled' burst. You could either have 'sprayed' the target, which would give you an attack bonus, or 'controlled' burst to give a damage bonus. As it stands:JediNeophyte wrote:Cursing, Ed switches to full auto and guns for the incoming soldiers.
(1-20) 7 + 10 = 17. Hits. Damage: 3d12 + 6 = 32. You expend 4 bullets.
You kill a soldier, quite spectacularly. One of the Sharadan soldiers laying down covering fire is killed. One down, seven to go. There's a further three out there in the grip of a blind panic.
[edit] Just so you know, your ACR's default fire option is burst mode. You can switch to semi-automatic fire at the end of the round, but you have to state that as your intention. Obviously Edward fired in single mode before when he sniped the driver, then switched back. In any case your current magazine is down to 25. You have 2 fresh clips.

Gotcha. As soon as the round cycles through, Ed will once again fire a controlled burst at an enemy.

Alex crouches, getting ready for the right moment.
Well, I've given them a piece of my mind. Time for something more... conventional.
Hearing a brief lull in the chatter of the soldiers' guns, Alex pops up and quickly takes aim, firing three rounds at the advancing soldiers before ducking back under cover.

Is it a crime to try and learn the truth? Is it a sin to search for those things which you fear? My purpose in this world is knowledge, and the dissemination of it. And it is I who is to restore the fruits of my labors to the entire world. Wake up! Don’t be afraid of knowledge! Humans who loose the capacity to think become creatures whose existence has no value. Think, you humans who are split into two worlds! Unless you want the gulf between humans to expand into oblivion, YOU MUST THINK! - Schwarzwald
Uh, what? I just checked your ability scores and you elected to have Dex 14, NOT 18 (the 18 went into Intelligence). You also didn't choose any combat oriented feats. This means your attack bonus comes to a total of + 5 (bab = 3, dex mod = 2).lazerus wrote:No armor, I have 18DEX (+4), so that makes a total of +7 attack bonus.
*tsk tsk* GMs are eeeeeevil.
(1-20) 7 + 7 = 14. Hits. Damage: 1d10 + 1 = 10. You expend a bullet. The Prime Necromancer wrote:Hearing a brief lull in the chatter of the soldiers' guns, Alex pops up and quickly takes aim, firing three rounds at the advancing soldiers before ducking back under cover.
One of the approaching Sharadan soldiers gets shot in the torso. He goes down, however you don't know whether you killed him or just injured him.
There are three Soldiers approaching the house now. As you shoot out from the corner you can only let off a single shot before the soldiers can fire on you. One has gone for a grenade, while two more head for the entrance.
First Squad lays down another barrage of covering fire.
1: (1-20) 11 + 5 = 16 - 4 for burst fire = 12
2: (1-20) fumble
3: (1-20) 11 + 5 = 16 - 4 for burst fire = 12
None of the covering fire hits. One of the three soldiers has their weapon jam, taking him out of the fight for a round.
Second squad has reached the entrance to the house. One guy throws in a grenade. Reflex Saves from both Jax and Alex:
Jax: (1-20) 8 + 8 = 16
Alex: (1-20) 11 + 5 = 16
You each take 12 points of Stamina damage (Reflex Save worked and you both only took half damage)
Both Jax and Alex see the grenade being lobbed in and dived for cover. The movement saves your lives, and all you suffer are a few cuts and bruises. One of the Sharadan soldiers gets to the door, opening himself up to an attack of opportunity.
Jax: (1-20) 14 + 5 = 19. Hits. Damage: 1d10 + (1) = 5. You expend a bullet.
Alex: (1-20) 7 + 7 = 14. Hits. Damage: 1d10 + 1 + (1) = 5. You expend a bullet.
The (1) damage is favourable circumstances. You both deal a combined +10 points of damage to the trooper. He gets shot in the arm and sholder, but it's not enough to kill him. It is enough, however, to make him withdraw momentarily.
New round. New initiative.
Ed: 27
Jax: 21
Alex: 20

2nd Squad: 1
Assuming you have nothing drastic planned, the new round has cycled through and you're top of the list.JediNeophyte wrote:Gotcha. As soon as the round cycles through, Ed will once again fire a controlled burst at an enemy.
Of the three remaining soldiers in 1st Squad one has his weapon jammed. He moves to beside the jeep to make a repair check. However, in the brief span between him turning his back and finding cover, he provokes an attack of opportunity.
(1-20) 7 + 10 = 17. Hits. Damage: 3d12 + 6 = 24.
Your burst fire kills him. You follow through with another attack on one of the two remaining soldiers.
(1-20) 18 + 10 = 28. Oh, it hits alright. Damage: 3d12 + 6 = 27.
You expend a total of 8 bullets.
You kill another one, while the last remaining member of 1st Squad dives behind the jeep and finds total cover.
