I think commercial Staroffice has a DB package though.

Anyway, I was thinking more along the lines of stuff accountants use. Then again, that's not the average secretary. I'm kind of blurring the line between secretaries and other users in my mind I guess. Some secretaries may use VB macros, but those can be ported with some effort.

Linux isn't that bad... the only reason why I'm spending so much time is that I'm using Debian with heavily customized configs (endless amounts of customization available...).
