Are they even allowed families.

If not, is it possible for some of them to have families with out the knowledge of superiors?

I think in the EU we lots of stories involving families, but these were mostly high ranking officers, and Tie pilots. If you mean stormtroopers, then I don't know, Kyp's brother was one (the only example I can think of), but with AOTC, are we all meant to believe that all Stromtroopers are clones?

As for the clone thing, I dont think they are, different sized ones and different voices. Though it is possible that instead of using one person, they just decided to choose the best and brightest they had and xerox them all.

I think the st and tie pilots are clones so no families or nothing just the imperial military is family and the Emperor is daddy.

When the DVD OT comes out the clone argument will be settled. Right now we have

- Temura Morrison reportedly doing voice-overs for the stormies in the OT
- George Lucas explicitly stating that he always knew that Boba Fett had something to do with stormtroopers, and that "stormtroopers are clones"

If he does decide to make the OT stormtroopers clones, he will undoutbedly fiddle with it to make all stormies the same height. Until then, we can't be sure- but I reckon he'll make them clones.

Tie Pilots don't seem to be clones accoring to EU considering we have everything from the 181st, to Half the Rebellion seems to be former tie Pilots, Heck acutal the charater of Tyhco was given to Stackpole by Lucus plus his background, unless he's over-rulling himself thats at least one TIE pilot who is not a clone

I just want to make the comparison that EPII pilots were clone troopers the guys who piloted the Republic Gunships and all tie pilots are always seen armored like the st and I would even go so far to say the AT-AT pilots are clones as well but I have no solid proof. To date we have never seen a st unmasked, a tie pilot unmasked or at-at pilots unmasked, I must conclude that GL intended them to all be clones.

Have you though the reason for that was simple ergonics? And the fact TIE's are not pressuriesd so its kinda sucidal to go out there without a flight suit on?

And why then creat charaters who are former TIE Pilots like oooh

While you still on I need you thoughts on this, I'm not trying to be difficult but is there actual proof that the tie cockpit is not preasurized I ask because Lord Vaders Tie Advanced X 1 seems to be and I just would like some solid proof. Please provide, because I know your the man to do it.

Al's evidence for the stormtroopers being clones is conclusive. That is a great source, Al.

This leads me to ask a question about the military hierarchy of the Empire. All of the officers that we have seen in command of the stormtroopers have looked different. If that is the case, it doesn't appear that the cloned stormtroopers are allowed to attain the high level officer ranks. Any speculation as to how the stormtroopers fit in with the rest of the Imperial military?

Shock Troops, They are aboard every Ship of the Empire as the Loyal Protectors of the Empire and the Emperor, they are trained as ground troops not generals(Besides if they are cloned you know who your dealing with)

They are elite units and ment to stay that way

Why would there be an Imperial Academy otherwise? To train Officers only? I doubt Luke would qualify for a commanding position just by the virtue of being a farmboy.

Stormtroopers are definitely clones.

TIE Fighters however it's still up in the air. But where does it say that Han Solo was a TIE pilot? If it's not canon, it has about as much standing on the issue as the rest of the EU (i.e. not much- typical example of no research we have a direct source explicitly stating that stormtroopers are clones- and what's more, the description of the creation process is EXACTLY THE SAME as in Attack of the Clones!!!)
