Mm... I would say that my preference goes from about, oh, B to low-end D... it depends on the size of the girl though. For example, if she's like 100 lb. and 5'1", but she's got DD breasts, there's definitely something wrong there. On the other hand, if she's more like 5'11" and 130 lb., it's not so bad-- still a bit large but it's more size-appropriate. For smaller girls I prefer A-high B range; medium girls, B-C; larger, C-D.... E and upwards is just a bit too large for me!
And as for shape... mm... I prefer the "natural" look; round or perky aren't really my thing. It's largely a matter of individual taste, really...
Having had relations with a 5'0", 110 D cup, I can safely say they're not even remotely "out of whack".
Look, the thing about tits are, at some point, they're not going to be important. Once you're slamming it home, at best they're a little extra activity for your hands or mouth, an extra place to stimulate her. So in that sense, size doesn't matter. They're more important beforehand, in how she looks and how the foreplay goes, and there every individual case is different.
I've been with a girl who was only an A cup and looked fantastic, and I've been with a DD cup who also looked fantastic. If those two switched busts, they'd both look horrible. The rest of her body matters a lot in how good her rack looks.

ah yes, being Australian... apparently our bra sizes are not in Inches. (surprize surprize... what's this Pounds (lb) Inches and feet? Kilograms Centremetres and Metres here... I don't know how it works to get 8E and 10DD (both bra sizes my girl wears, because apparently 8E's don't look good, but are more comfortable, but 10DD's look nicer)
