Definately, and not as a Captain Falcon ripoff. And kudos to any Nintendo guy who makes sure that Sheik never again is seen within the ring!

Covenant wrote: I find it incredibly odd. I mean, I love to play a bit more 'seriously' in SSBM--without items, limited lives, and ideally, with Stark's Danger Level turned to 0 or 1--but today on Street Fighter I played half of my matches as pink-colored Dan. Dan. The joke character.
Ora Ora Ora Ora! Dan is Gawd! GADOKEN!
When I played SSBM, I had to learn how to play Fox and Marth so I would stand a chance of beating my friend who typically played Shiek on Final Destination almost all the time. Part of Marth's strength is his grab range. He can quickly take someone down with a grapple and then set up for a combo. He's a pretty boring character (unless you luv bishounen) otherwise.

The Zelda medley today is interesting, though I don't care for the flute-sounding instrument prevalent early in the song. Zelda's Lullaby is a great touch at the end.

Covenant wrote:People actually played with Marth? Marth and Shiek are pretty much just activating lame-mode, if you ask me. We got a guy around here who plays with Shiek, but nobody gives them any points for winning with them, it's just kinda accepted out of the desire to let people have fun. Marth, however, is unabashedly lame. They're not funny like the other guys, they don't yell stuff like Captain Falcon, and they have very little 'character' to redeem them like Samus. All business. That's not too exciting! Where's the charm? As a hardcore Jigglypuff player, I guess I need to surrender my "Lameass Boring SSBM" crown to some of these other guys. I used to feel bad about complaining that some of the characters were lame... and geez, some people are making lame into a goddamn religion.
It's the sort of thing that makes you want to play with items on.
"Oh, no, I don't like his style, he must be lame!" I use Marth as my main character because I do like his style. His air attacks have good range and power, he's fast, has a decent recovery, etc. I play with items and like Poke Floats.
And, no, I never learned wave-dashing. (And I do use other characters, of course. Typically Samus, Peach, Jigglypuff, or Link.)

I like Marth because I'm an aerial fighter. Never learned wavedashing.

huge update today.
The name system returns, but now it actually means something, because each "profile" can have a customized control scheme for each control method. They're trying to have it so control setups and names can be transferred by use of the Wii Remote, so you can literally carry your profile to a friend's house, but they make no guarantees. No word on what, if any, role Miis will play, since they do not appear next to the profile name like in other games. Will Miis be characters, perhaps?
On that note, a blurred picture of the Character Select Screen is available in the update. Two thoughts:
1: Green is surprisingly prevalent.
2: there are, it seems, a lot of characters available. That's good news.
Glad to see Brawl is showing what all Wii games should be.
All done by Wiipost, booyah.

For those curious, GameFAQs has attempted to use Photoshop to calculate the number of characters, and their estimates range between 35 and 50.

They're complaining because they are cunts who will complain about anything even if it's nothing.
But yeah, basically that it's more brunette than blonde.

I'm glad they're throwing in piles of characters: at one point it sounded like there might be less than in SSB:M.

It'll also make it much easier to find a fun character. With so many options to choose from, I really hope we won't have a few everpresent dominating characters like marth and shiek that just warp the gameplay. A wide variety of characters means that you're unlikely to find that one rock in a pile of scissors.

I don't really mind, so long as they're different. I think things like King of Fighters has a broad selection of cheesy, difficult, special move, combo, agility, etc characters. I'd prefer a huge selection where you choose characters to your taste than a smaller selection where every character has a single clear role. I mean, there will always be a few characters that seem best, but if you have friends who constantly bust out the cheese it's time to get new friends.

Oh this is
good, real good.
Assist Trophies!
An Assist Trophy is an item that you pick up, that summons somebody to help you for a short time.
Two things of note:
#1: An assist Trophy fighter is
not a playable character, they are all new. Two of them have been shown" Samurai Goro from F-Zero, and a Hammer Brother.
#2: An Assist Trophy fighter is invincible for the duration of his appearance.
Also, the Nintendogs puppy is an Assist Trophy.

That sounds like a better version of the pokeball. Invincible, but not quite as annoying.

The pokeballs never annoyed me, I actually preferred them. But the assist trophies do seem like a nice addition.

Oh, I love the very last quote for the Lylat Cruiser level screenies.
"How do they breathe? Why is there Gravity? I suggest you not worry about it too much." This game's gonna rule.

More or less, most of the time you see her she's
either possessed or in the Twilight, so it's hard to get an accurate guage of shades, but it's pretty much her from TP. The people complaining are mostly upset that she isn't blonde.

I can't actually see how you'd get any number out of that picture ...
And Bowser's Final Smash involves turning into Giga Bowser. Once again this reiterates how badass Final Smashes are.
