Is that supposed to be an argument for me to not do that?
I'm not going to refrain from making fun of idiocy out of fear that someone will attempt to murder me, any more than I would refrain from wearing a Star of David in public for fear of being murdered for being Jewish (well, if I were still practicing, anyhow).
Yeah, but the difference here is one of degree. IF you were in a country where jews were being persecuted and murdered then it would be fairly applicable to you speaking boldly out against a religion that some people very well might track you down and kill you if they are in your neck of the woods.
It's somewhat safer for celebrities and political people to do so because they tend to be protected by bodyguards as it is and the average person knows it would be very hard to whack them, but an average joe? These days it can be simple as hell to track someone.
Like I said, since we have to unfortunately admit that millions of people that follow this religion are NOT the "turn the other cheek" kind, but will happily decree their wish to see you executed, it is a very REAL danger if you are not careful. I would never want to put myself in such a position. My life and my loved ones who would be devastated by such a turn of events is far too important to take risks like that. Muslims are everywhere, and you just don't KNOW which ones would take it that seriously.
Now I'm not saying you can't speak OUT against Islam in an opinionated fashion, but deliberately mocking them by doing something they consider truly profane is crossing over that danger line.
Please think about it seriously. It's very hard to take back words already spoken...
You have to realize that most Christian "moral values" behaviour is not really about "protecting" anyone; it's about their desire to send a continual stream of messages of condemnation towards people whose existence offends them. - Darth Wong alias Mike Wong
