Medium AA isn't decoyed by flares.

Mediums can kill light tanks, but anything better is so slow you'll be there all day. All day you're not providing mobile air cover for the team everywhere else. If you want to kill tanks, get a heavy as well. I never go 100% one way on choppers: even if you've only got one medium, the stinger trail is enough to send most air guys running. The only way to get a decent score with mediums is to hunt choppers, not waste hours plinking away at tanks (and getting driven off by local HAA or killed by A2A).
If the enemy has swarms of mediums, change to support for a few minutes and rape them. Killing choppers with choppers is really inefficient - the only advantage is deployment speed. A team with good air defence will make it very difficult for your air players to achieve anything: part of the reason why a good armour player destroys HAA wherever they find it.
Well, another advantage is immunity to most TA.

Medium AA also does fuck-all damage per unit and has no smoke. They're only useful against medium or scout choppers: heavy choppers will eat them for breakfast. I find them more useful against infantry.
Choppers are 'immune to most TA' in the way that they have a single TA with a huge footprint that will 100% kill any choppers in that area. It's hardly anything to be proud of: the A2A strike is hella cheap for what it does. It's the shit for killing, say, idiots who chase your tank plinking uselessly with cannon fire. I've noticed the only players who avoid A2A strikes are the sort of air players that will kill your 4 HAA without taking a hit, so it's like a decent armour player being able to avoid 80% of TA sent their way. Remember, people who get hit by the AT strike are either idiots or they knew it was coming.
The very idea of slowly grinding down a tank with medium choppers because you scared all your primary targets away terrifies me. If the enemy mediums are hiding/nonexistent, you should be using heavies to support the attack. Armour players really shouldn't be killing heavy tanks: they should be killing AA and leaving the tanks to heavy air, who can kill them *way* faster. The ONLY reason to use mediums is to kill choppers: if there aren't any around, you're just wasting time.
Hey, at least it isn't a scout chopper swarm.
EDIT: now that I think about it, every medium swarm that ever attacked me got A2A'd or I lured them into HAA range. I think I've lost a few damaged heavies and a few airdropped lights to mediums, and really tying them up like that is a win when our heavies are raping their armour player.

Not really. I just sent out a shitton of invites though, 'cause Instantsunrise ran off and didn't tell me. Apparently I was the clan leader and didn't know it.

Backwards movement is extremely useful, I've rebinded it to 'k'. Really enhances survivability on those tank vs tank wars (vs n00bs of course w/ no anti-air). I actually find it pretty hard to destroy anti-air since it's faster than heavy tanks, and the heavy tanks in front of the anti-air can hurt badly when rushing past to chase the AA since flanks and rear then become exposed.

Rush past the tanks, pop a smoke, use HEAT to engage the HAA.

I've been playing WiC for a little bit. I found the greatest challange is finding a team that actually works together instead of everyone running around playing Lonewolf.
I'd be interested in getting an invite to the SD.net group.

Cool...add me in as well...by the way, can we orgainse a clan battle with another clan?
That would be fun...

I've now become an armor whore- everything else is too goddamn fragile to one thing or another, be it AA or TA. Tank mobility w/ backwards movement is excellent at avoiding TA, and most won't hurt unless it's lucky and gets a direct hit. Even w/ helos popping smoke gives you time to survive. Unfortunately it doesn't last forever, and I have a tendency to barge in w/o AA due to the lack of AA on team.
Heavy air support is an excellent TA- huge area, won't hurt your own units inside circle, destroys air and ground units, and persistent. Too bad costs 29 TA.

Oh, wow.
I just played a game and I noticed something on my humvee. I zoomed in and my Massgate portrait (same Ion pic as my photo here) was plastered on the doors.
Sadly it doesn't save them in replays.
Not quite fear inspiring.

You didn't know that? That's the whole
point of a Massgate avatar.

Which is why I have a k-rad Crux Terminatus.

I don't see my avatar on my T-80's

. Do you need to be on high qualitY? I'm set to medium.

Hey Alan, yesterday on Xmas my armour was killing some tanks threatening your HAA, and they used their smoke due to being seriously outnumbered. I dropped an AT strike on them, but to ensure my tanks lived long enough to hold the enemy in place you moved up to my tanks, popped your smoke, and retreated.
That was BOSS.

That was a good pitfight we had. Too much air involved for my taste but you take what you can get.

Hrmm, not quite. I rewatched the replay trying to find the moment you were talking about and you didn't AT strike me in that game.
Closest I could find was Comp and yourself pinning me in place for a Heavy Air Strike from one of your teammates.
I was trying to pin
you in place for an Anti-Tank Strike of mine.
Good fun.

Ha, I think that's what I'm thinking of. I don't have the replay for that match. It was heaps of fun, and that was some nice armour business.

That was a seriously nice heavy air support.

Do people still save up TA for the nukes?

I was hoping you'd have one from your team's POV. I can oblige with the
Russian side of said conflict. Marvel at our 50% air mix that still forces me to go Support because the enemy choppers are raping us!
JointStrikeFighter wrote:P.S. This replay is highlarious.
I couldn't help but feel for both of the players on the opposite team that actually put in an appearance. It almost seems like they had split up the points between them and each player was defending a different one
Hawkwings wrote:Do people still save up TA for the nukes?

Yeah, I never bother though. If someone's not being annoying I'll throw them the occasional point.
The last time I gave someone points they spammed voice chat "OKAY GUYS FIVE MORE POINTS FOR A NUKE!" etc and then when they had it?
"OKAY WHERE SHOULD I PUT THE NUKE"
...
You didn't even have a PLAN, dipshit?
How often do nuke strikes go completely unexploited because there isn't anyone ready to go charging into the fallout cloud and TAKE THE POINT...
