Yes that was so funny I forgot to laugh.
Opinion? As is yours, sir.
Maybe it's just my opinion that John Shepard should be beaten in the face with a red hot iron because he looks like a simpering goon, but I firmly stand by my hatred of that wretched, ugly and annoying monster.

Did you consider the far superior "I know you are but what am I"?

I'm not saying he looks amazing or anything, but have you SEEN some of the custom shepards out there? It was one of the early video reviews, either gamespot or IGN, this short-haired dude with a red mustache and a face that looked like it got hit with a shovel too many times as a kid, and his mother was exposed to agent orange during the pregnancy. It still haunts my nightmares.

I've certainly seen some hideous Shepards out there, and some okay ones. Nothing great but passable.
But there's something about John Shepard's face that brings out the hate an bile in me, it makes me want to kill puppies.

I never used to mind the default Shepard look, but now that I've played around with the appearance sliders I find I can't go back. Indeed, I'm approaching Gramzamber's level of antipathy concerning the 'canon' face of Shepard. My current Shepard looks so much better:

Yes. Yes we are. I also think that default Shepard looks like a wanker.

Both of my Shepards (one male, one female) look just fine. I'll take pictures off my TV whenever my 360 gets back from repairs.

I just want to echo a call for a revamped Paragon/Renegade system. I'm running through Virmire and I came to the first Geth Outpost, for some reason I got Paragon points for disabling enemy communications during an assault on their base...

Because by disabling their communications you are making it a little bit easier for the Salarians to hold that damned line they keep talking about.

Which doesn't make any sense, the point of the Renegade was suppossedly to do whatever it takes to get the job, disabling communications, destroying the fueling depot, and shutting off the security facilitate a better chance of success.

Paragon isn't supposed to be lawful stupid. By going out of your way to help them you were endangering yourself and the mission in order to help others, hence paragon.

No, it makes perfect sense. Renegade would do whatever it takes to complete the mission, there's one point on Virmire where you can get the guards in the facility to respond to a false alarm, which would make it easier for you to complete
your mission but would make things tougher for the Salarians.
That gave renegade points.

I didn't bother tripping the alarm because I knew I could take them. In fact, I probably could have taken the whole Geth army assuming they kept coming in waves. Mako > hundreds of geth armatures.

You mean you didn't get out and circle-strafe them to death on foot?

I never bothered to do that myself. I know you get double the XP if you do, but I couldn't give a shit about that. To me, it breaks suspension of disbelief to get out on foot to shoot at an armoured opponent when I'm standing next to a mobile vehicle with heavy weapons in a turret.

OTOH on foot you can use Lift to make the armatures completely helpless. Not that they're much threat anyway, with that ridiculously slow pulse weapon. If you max out Lift it even works on Colossi, which is pretty funny to watch.

I didn't say it was, I suggest you actually learn to read and use the skills to understand what I actually said. Disrupting enemy defenses in order to complete a mission should have nothing to do with Renegade/Paragon.

I'm assuming taking out said defenses was optional and hence if you were doing whatever it took you would ignore it.

Indeed, you were taking out the defenses your allies would have to face and not those hindering you. By disabling them your mission became slightly more difficult so that theirs would become easier. That's a very Paragon-y thing to do, as far as the game is concerned. Your mission is the critical one in Virmire. Their line is just a distraction. And being a Renegade means letting them die so that you can blow the thing up with no detours.
There are many parts of the game where the Paragon/Renegade system is busted. I'd say that's not one of them however.

Does anyone else think there's something highly homo-erotic about how Shepherd approaches Kaiden for conversations, like they're about to grapple and make out right then and there?

Less so if you go with a female Shepard.

Of course not. I hit them with a main gun slug and spray the MG until they get to nearly zero health, drop out and fire one or two pistol rounds to finish it off. Takes less time, still get the XP.
