Claims don't mean a lot of the net, Superman. I can claim to be 125 and have a harem of thousands of woman. Doesn't mean much. And, no I'm not married nor do I plan to be. Doesn't mean one has to act totally clueless about women.

As for your behaviour, a lot of people simply find it hard to accpet you're getting married from your behaviour.

Actually, it's not a vendetta. It's explaining to him why people find it hard to accept his story at face value. His No Fat Chicks thread and other such semi-mysoginistic posts ended up HoSed as a I recall and gave me a poor impression of Superman.

Funny, I remember the flame war it started. The problem is the evidence is bits all over the board and with the search function neutered there's no way to recover it.

Erm, for the date and time, it was as technically perfect as can be. It was Smith's fuck up for charting such a northernly course at full throtle to beat all speed records.
The crucial fuckup as per the latest analysis was the Jr. Officer in charge of the Bridge who ordered full reverse and hard to port. The Titanic was going too fast to avoid the Iceberg and shredded a whole side.

She then began listing badly to one side the fireman's crawlway which was above the watertight compartments began flooding, as a result of her keel breaking when she road OVER the ice berg. A head on collision would have saved the ship. Crippled her outside of drydock but still saved her.

Didn't they discover some problem with the welds used in the Titanic's sister ship (and by extension in the Titanic)?

Their metallurgy was not up to modern standards, but I don't know if it was out of line for the era. Then again, I'm not much of a Titanic scholar. The only reason it's such a huge story is the fact that so many of the victims were rich people.

You don't see people micro-analyzing the Bhopal disaster which killed more than 10 times as many people as Titanic, do you? None of the victims were rich or famous.

I thought I remembered something about a sister ship of the Titanic being sunk by U-boats during WW2... they found some problem with the rivets IIRC.

I was watching history channel last week, some of the damage to to the bottom and the flooding of the fireman's compartment could not have happened unless the Keel had been seriously damaged. It's currently believed that it rode over the iceberg as well.
