The trick is that they serve it warm. At least that's what I heard... those who say that they taste the same have probably never tried both ice-cold.

I was wondering why they were so bad, it was like their second test of the morning. When the shopping centre opens at 8, and I'm there at 8:15 I want it cold dammit.

OKay, on The Simpsons Archive's page about the episode where Khlav Kalash first appeared, some guy named "Shamram" writes following:

But AFAIK, Khal-Khalash is not any kind of middle eastern food. It appears to be a kabob on a stick (which are quite good!) - it would simply be a piece of marinated beef tenderloin that gets grilled over charcoal.
