Your personality.

I'd like to know what it is about my personality that makes you conclude that, if it's not too much trouble.

All the little quirks...I may have accidentally ruled one or two out that I prolly shouldn't have...but too much detail. It's mostly the little things, for soem people.

According to the Zodiac, I'm a Taurus. Using the Chinese horoscope, I'm a rooster. Oh well.

Your brother and I have the same birthday, verilon.

Anyway, to actually be on topic, easiest way to get kids hooked on books is to read to them. My dad used to read a shitload of stuff to me and my siblings, fairy tales, children's books, the Hobbit (two or three times), practically everything in the Arabian Nights. He read for us hours on end, and I remember how we begged him to read the tale of Aladdin and the one after that, Abu Muhammed Al-Qeslan (no idea how you guys spell that one, you'd have a hrd time recognizing the Finnish spelling), and the one about Prince Ahmed and Paribanu, the genie princess, all in one go. And he actually did read them all to us in one sitting, which makes for around two hundred-odd pages...

Anyway, that's where I got my interest, and my sister and brother also like to read, not as much though. We also visited the library frequently, and dad always joked that we'd need a wheelbarrow to cart all the books and comics we borrowed home...

Reading to them is the best. then give them comics or boooks with nice pretty pictures, then wean them into the hard stuff from there. Try and leave some encyclopedia-type books lying around and they'll automatically educate themselves.

Yeh...I shouldn't have ruled out Aquarius.

I just checked, and apparantly my birthday indicates that I have Cancer. I hope the chemo rids me of that.

In the meantime, what can this diagnosis tell me about myself that I didn't already know? (i.e. what the fuck does this crab have to do with my personality?)

Thanks for your expert insight in advance.

Well, you tend to be emotional, or at least caring towards others' emotions...you tend to hide in a sehll when confronted...you don't make first move son a date (generally)...Making you mad = very bad idea...

The crab is a Water sign, so you must be a Water element. Also, the crab has the hard shell to retreat to in times of danger or need. Crabs also tend to be a bit of outsiders.

I guess...not more than anybody else, though. Chalk one up for "accurate due to vagueness and universality" for astrology.
verilon wrote:you tend to hide in a sehll when confronted...
I'm not sure what that means. Does that mean I defend myself when confronted? Confronted physically, verbally, or ideologically?
verilon wrote:you don't make first move son a date (generally)...
True. Very true. I let the other party dictate what's going to happen. This one's accurate, though I do find amusing the incessant ass-covering going on, apparant here with the qualifying parenthetical.
verilon wrote:Making you mad = very bad idea...
Again, true. And I'll admit, it's more true for me than for most people I've observed. Whether or not that's a consistant trait for other people born at the same time as me...I don't know.
verilon wrote:The crab is a Water sign, so you must be a Water element.
???
[EDIT:] I don't know what the hell a water element is, but I don't like being in water. It's my favorite beverage, and I like taking showers, but being surrounded in water is just not fun for me. It's not fear, but more discomfort. I've never really liked swimming pools or going in the ocean. Just doesn't feel right. Though I did enjoy surfing the one time I tried it, even though I thought I wouldn't.
verilon wrote:Also, the crab has the hard shell to retreat to in times of danger or need.
Again, I don't really get this.
verilon wrote:Crabs also tend to be a bit of outsiders.
I guess. It depends on how you look at it. I'm an "outsider" in that I'm very different from the majority of people, yet I'm able to go undercover and blend with non-outsiders very well, better than most "outsiders." Also, I am able to identify with my large group of "outsider" friends, both in real life and in places like the internet. So while the over-used term "outsider" deserves rethinking, the socially-understood meaning it holds is applicable to me.

Okay, so we'll say "sensitive."

Confronted in general...mostly emotionally and verbally. (At least, that is how I am)

Well, I am a Cancer, but if I feel confident, I either make the move or nothing happens at all...

Trust me, it is. Even so for me. *sigh* Although how long it takes to piss me off varies...depends on what kind of day I'm having, how long it's been going on, etc, etc.

That's basically the jist of it. Most like the spray of water as opposed to being in the water. I don't personally mind swimming (in fact, I enjoy it about half the time), but sometimes, it just doesn't feel right, as you said. I particularly like jet-skiing. My favorite type of weather is also the rain.

Again with the confrontation thing. Also, this may be due to social confrontations...I meet a lot of new people, but I don't apraoch them; they approach me, or I have someone introduce us.

*Sigh* I myself am a bit of an outsider. I seem to be a bit anti-social, and am not really classifiable in any social group (unless you county semi-goth pothead skatery type that likes classical music, techno, and pop/rock...and that's not all that easy to find...). I do have a lot of friends, but they are in the same boat (so to speak) that they don't really fit into any category.
